Well, after 51 hours, that’s the Campaign finished. And I loved it, from start to finish. There’s a few difficulty spikes here and there. And some of the enemies can just fuck right off (Demons that split into copies every time you hit them? Wankers.
Demons that soul-link to other enemies, meaning you have to kill all of them simultaneously? Epic wankers).

But this is such a good game. It hit the news earlier this week that it “flopped” sales wise, leading to people commenting “Lol, it’s a shit game, lol”. Yeah, well I bet most of those dullards never even bothered to actually play this. Same people that likely hated on the last Guardians of The Galaxy game, which was also bloody good.

The ending leaves room for a sequel, which I doubt is ever going to happen now. Still, least there’s some DLC still to look forward to.

Finished the Deadpool DLC. It’s not overly long, but I like the character, and he’s quite amusing here. Bit of a pain that the majority of the trophies for that DLC are bugged and won’t unlock. But hey ho.

So yeah, in conclusion, this game is awesome. The End.

Also finished this recently, I think just over a week ago and also absolutely loved it from start to finish as well, think it took me about 58 hours. Did all the side stuff and mopped up quite a few of the trophies but the Plat was just beyond my reach as it would've required a second (dark) playthrough I feel.

I agree that some of the enemies towards the end were devious as fuck, the splitters and the soul-link ones were annoying as fuck at times but really satisfying to take down. The final mission was super climactic too, really felt a bond with all these characters going into it and the weight of what the mission involved, made it super intense for me.

I think the game was mis sold to a lot of people, and those people are now refusing to listen to anyone who says it's a good game, they think it's a deck building TCG or something maybe? I'm not really sure but yeah, they would be pleasantly surprised if they actually played it. I don't think the marketing or when it came out did it any favours, but it's still a fantastic game that I'd recommend to anyone and one of the best games of 2022.

Tempted by the DLC but I usually buy it then never play it lol, so I don't think I'll bite. Would love to see a sequel Firaxis make another game similar to this with some similar.

There didn’t seem to be much marketing for it, and releasing it around Christmas, which is pretty much a death sentence for most games, wasn’t the best of ideas.

Though I’m close to the Platinum, the remaining trophies are a ball-ache (Finish a mission in two rounds, finish a mission without getting hit once), so I doubt I’ll bother.

Still, this is one of the best games of 2022, and for anyone that goes “It’s shite” without even playing it, well that’s just bollocks.

Just finished off all the DLC content, and it’s a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand, I really enjoyed this game, so more characters to play as was certainly appreciated. But, the DLC campaign does suffer a bit from significant repetition. In all 4 episodes (Deadpool, Venom, Morbius and Storm), there are only 2 bosses that you fight, and they get repeated a LOT. At one point, you have to fight both at the same time, which was a real pain in the arse.

If you clear all 4 episodes, you get a final battle. Which is just the same two bosses again. Not very creative.

Another issue is that the trophies are unfortunately fucked. They were glitched out when Deadpool’s chapter launched in February. And they’re still fucked now, with Storm coming out last week. There’s trophies for finishing each episode, completing all research, and doing specific character based tasks. None of them work, which sucks.

Still, it took me nearly 10 hours to do all the DLC. And as this underperformed, meaning a sequel isn’t very likely, I’ll take what I can get.

Just got this & made a start, over 3 hours in and so far I’m really loving it. The combat is great, even with the card system. I love how powerful it manages to make the attacks feel. I love when you knock enemies into each other or the environment. They really bounce off each other in an incredibly satisfying way.

Liking the Abbey stuff so far too, reminds me slightly of Persona with the character relation and story stuff between main missions. It is incredibly wordy though, hope it tones down a little as I progress and there’s not as much explanation needed. The talking - combat ratio is wildly off.

As long as it doesn’t need me to engage in the deck building side much this could be great.

One thing, do I need to worry about my like and dark stats? I feel like I’m being funnelled into picking certain answers in dialogue sections just to increase those stats even when it’s something I’d rather not pick.

You do eventually get specific cards for light/dark abilities, but you never get locked into one path. I went “Dark” for the majority of the game, but still had access to Light abilities. There’s a trophy/achievement for hitting maximum Light/Dark, and it unlocks a costume, but that’s about it.

Deck building does come in handy, but I didn’t mess about with it too much. Once I found abilities that did massive damage to groups of enemies, and healed, that was good enough for me. Then you can upgrade them in Blade’s gym to make them even stronger.

Good to hear, thanks. Yea I’ve been wanting to pick the dark choices as it feels to me it suits the character more. But was worried it would screw me later. Does it alter the story much or does it only effect the friendship stuff?

Posted

Doesn’t affect the story as far as I know. Each character reacts differently, some prefer Light responses, other Dark. It only really impacts upon Friendship, but you get plenty of opportunities to boost that anyway. Either through giving gifts, taking characters on missions, or going to activities with them.

It’s definitely worth getting a character to maximum level friendship, as that allows you to do their individual “Challenge” mission in Tony Stark’s forge. Completing that unlocks a new costume for that character, as well as a special ability card that is typically bloody strong.

Only problem is, you’ll likely need to YouTube how to do those missions, as I found them ridiculously hard. You get a limited number of cards/moves to kill

a room of enemies, and one fuck up means it’s game over.

Getting to maximum Light/Dark takes the majority of the game. I was doing side missions and levelling up frequently, and I didn’t reach max level until pretty much the finale. So I don’t think it’s possible to max out both in a single playthrough.

Good news, gameplay:talking has gotten a lot better.

Bad news, even in a strategy game I can’t escape fucking picking fucking flowers. Argh!!! Please make it stop. Why has every game got this mundane SHIT in it!?

I’ve not got much to add, but just want to say how much I ended up fucking loving this game. Completed it yesterday, checked my stats and according it Xbox app I’ve put in 68hours!!! The best praise I can give it is to at it felt more like 15, which almost never happens with me and games lately. I’m even contemplating buying all the DLC so I can play more.

Really hope they get to make a sequel.

Really glad you enjoyed it as much as we both did, it's an absolutely amazing game, definitely one of last years hidden gems.

Highly doubt we'll get a sequel because of the poor sales though, which is a massive shame :(

Yeah, I think the poor sales have pretty much killed any chance of a sequel. If they do, that’ll be a day one for me. But I fear it’s not going to happen.

I’d definitely recommend the DLC, it’s equally bloody good. And probably the last we will see of this now.

One of my favourite games of this generation, no doubt about it.

Watched a stream on this from PlayStation Access the other week and got it in my head that I need it. Used the excuse that it's a game Rosie and I can 'play together' (ie she does the stuff, I make suggestions. Because I SUCK at strategy) and we're both loving it. Not much more to say at the minute as we're only a few hours in, but it's a super-cool title.

Well after the recommendations on the DLC & it being on offer I’ve now completed them and gone for all the achievements. All done now, 90 hours in end. Fantastic game.

However if anyone else is thinking of getting the DLC I strongly recommend you buy it early on. You’ll get much more value out of it when you can use the extra characters throughout the main story. The extra missions are pretty thin and I wouldn’t say it’s worth the hefty full price after completion.

About 10 hours in to this. I like it, but the amount of talking is basically unbearable for me. Anything that isn't story critical I'm just skipping through because I can't deal with it

I really like the combat, but I'm terrible at it and even doing a side mission can take me over an hour and 3 attempts just to get 2/3 stars.

I really want to practice the combat and find good team synergies for free. But every action comes at a cost of more story and more talking and it puts me off wanting to play it. A lot of it is definitely optional, but combat bonuses are locked behind the social sim aspect so I kind of have to do it or it's detriment to myself for not taking part.

I get the feeling this game would be really good on NG+. Once got all the most powerful versions of abilities and know how the combat works. Then could relax and enjoy the story stuff more. But I just want to get to the meat and potatoes but there are so many vegetables to get through. If you know what I mean
