Ray tracing comparison

I was thinking of getting this on PS5 but Digital Foundry video made it seem good but a bit eh as well. Also I expect this game is better with headphones too (I welcome the radio static. Cancel out my tinnitus)

Just waiting for their PC video to see if it has bad stutter. Unreal Engine game.

EDIT: In the comments a lot of people saying how demanding it is. Definitely waiting for PC review now

Stutter Hill 2, but visually beautiful. At least when there's not strange visual bugs

Interestingly that the game always uses ray tracing, it's just that the option on PC is for hardware accelerated RT but it's still used on PS5 performance mode via software. imo it goes to show what RT does to bring a next gen presentation, whether it's software or hardware based

I was thinking of getting it on PC because it looks so much better. But between the stutter, animation and mods for little fixes I’ll just stick with quality mode on PS5. Small stutters are not as bad as the big game stopping stutters Unreal games have on PC

I can’t believe that stutter issue on Pc hasn’t been fixed yet. It would send me insane, it’s almost as bad as just a poor frame rate. Man, if I’d paid over £1000 for a good PC & was getting that I’d be well pissed! Is it an engine issue or just PC in general?

Bit of both. UE5 seems to just be pretty stuttery, when you traverse the environments there's trigger points where it loads in data and this causes a jump. It happens on PS5 as well, but it's a bit more disguised cause of the vsync and lower framerate. A lot of the stutters alex is talking about on the video are barely discernible on the video, but having played the game I can say they are very noticeable, the youtube vid is at 60fps so I guess that could be why (and why they need a framegraph and slowdown to describe it)

My edited comment was saying that the video is saying you can't really escape the issues by just going to PS cause of how intrinsic it is to UE, and you could probably just set the FPS and vsync up similarly on PC. But they talk about this animation delta time thing at the end where the animation frames jump out of sync with the frametime, and for some reason that doesn't seem to be on PS

A lot of this is on Epic though, not Bloober. It can also be a UE4 thing

I think PC stutter is worse than bad frame rate because bad frame rate you kind of get used to when playing the game. But stutter is like these constant spikes where the entire game runs fine, then stops for a split second, the starts again and it immediately takes me out of the game every time it happens.  It’s like being in a car and someone just does an emergency stop every now and then

Assuming this statistic is accurate PS5 being so high is quite surprising to me. I feel like PC gaming has been gaining on console and these splits were closer on other games. I wonder why this went basically 80% in favour of PS5
