Maf Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Yeah, I thought about that after posting, clockwork is not the right description because the cogs don’t necessarily all make each other turn. But it’s just the amount of things they are simulating in one game and the incredible level of detail that makes GTA such a wide experience Although one of the things I never liked about GTA5 was it felt like Jack of all, master of none. It probably does more things than any other video game for that time, but it doesn’t do anything better than any video game at that time, either Where as with GTA4 I thought the more focused aspects really worked. Every body mocks the the toll booth but you all stopped and paid it instead of dealing with the cops. I really like stuff like that
shinymcshine Posted January 5 Posted January 5 GTA IV - it works..... except for the bit where Kate kept calling me for a date after she'd been murdered......
shinymcshine Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Sounds more like "Hey guys you've stopped buying as many GTA V Shark bucks (with GTA VI coming) - so you're not getting your new game for another year !!!"
Maf Posted May 2 Posted May 2 There will be so many publishers scrambling right now They’ve sort of done the industry a solid by announcing the release date a year in advance. As long there’s no more delays 1
shinymcshine Posted May 2 Posted May 2 I suppose the big surprise (from a business finance thing) is it moving from one Financial Year into the next - usually something that any shareholders or investors might be keen to avoid.
Nag Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Does that really matter with this game though?... it's gonna break records whenever it releases.
shinymcshine Posted May 2 Posted May 2 "No other information on the GTA VI delay has been given. However, Rockstar’s parent company Take-Two is due to report its financial results on 15 May, when questions from journalists and shareholders will no doubt dominate the session." Guess it depends on how the market etc and anyone's portfolio might be impacted - as there's that whole world of finance that is more focussed on when things happen and when the money flows, rather than just the product and it's overall take.
Maf Posted May 2 Posted May 2 Some people find these accounts cringe but the DD one is really funny to me 1
one-armed dwarf Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Trailer Sorta weird. More of a focus on the dude character this time, but it's kinda an odd montage of nothing Amazing graphics tho, maybe the best looking characters I've ever seen in a game. Surpassing Cyberpunk with its path tracing stuff. Still don't really expect I'll like this game, modern Rockstar games feel like I'm being asked to find my mark and read my lines
Maf Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Looks incredible. How is that going to run on a PS5 those graphics are insane? Now it’s a shame it’s a year away because that looks really cool. Looks like they’ve got a nice tonal balance between GTA4 and GTA5, where the main characters aren’t cartoons but there’s a lot of crazy shit happening as well. Really good
DANGERMAN Posted May 6 Posted May 6 you can see the upscaling around the hair, but it's a very good looking game. I'm not sure about the characters, how they're going to make them likable and make them fit in that world
one-armed dwarf Posted May 6 Posted May 6 I dunno that the graphics are beyond PS5, it's just that it's an unprecedented sort of level of detail for a game to have. Like, how characters look when they sweat, muscles, hair on legs. The animations and physics, the way bodies move, how they look. Even the variety of body types It's to PS5 as RDRII is to PS4 I'd say, and that is still in the runnings for one of the best looking games ever in spite of it having some dated looking aspects here and there, it's just that like this it can't be challenged in how meticulous it is with these kinds of microdetails. It's too expensive for any other game I also found the VA familiar, he reminded me of Luke's VA in Street Fighter but I dunno. People seem to think the older guy at the start is Stephen Root, aka Barry's handler in the TV show (Barry, that is)
Maf Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Honestly that trailer has done the work on me. I’ve gone from eh, more GTA to hold on why is it a year away
Maf Posted May 6 Posted May 6 I suppose the Series X did run Hellblade 2 which seems somewhat equivalent in terms of detail. But the scope of that game is also very limited and if I remember right didn’t the Xbox version have big black wide screen bars so it didn’t have to use the whole screen? The idea that there’s going be that kind of detail and tech equipped in a fast paced, open world game like GTA. Seems crazy. Cyberpunk struggled on these consoles and this looks better than that Though it’s a very cutscene heavy trailer so we’ll see if there’s big differences when real gameplay is shown. But just going off what they put out today. Looks crazy.
Maf Posted May 6 Posted May 6 Along with the trailer they put out 70 screenshots today It’s hard to find a bit that looks video gamey. The boat in picture 3 looks like it isn’t sitting in the water right because the water looks entirely under it instead of splashing up against it. But apart from that. Yeah, ok, I’m big hype
Maryokutai Posted May 7 Posted May 7 I actually think it looks quite gamey. Everything is heightened, the colours are almost over-saturated, the lighting is very intense. The character models also go a bit in that direction, where there's just a hint of larger-than-life in them to avoid the uncanny valley, not unlike what Naughty Dog does. It's borderline flawless though, there's no doubt about that. Also IIRC in the trailer it was all cutscenes so that seems realistic as a visual goal for PS5. There's a lot of stuff you can ramp up if interactivity isn't part of the equation.
