I completely bounced off this the first time I tried it, but given the reverence Nag and Sly hold for it (and dwarf I think) I'm extremely tempted to try again at that price.

It's a game which is great in spite of its very rough parts. I think when i got to the Dark Arisen DLC I liked it a little less cause it was trying to be a bit Dark Souls. But there's no game really which goes as open and dynamic with its combat in an open world type of genre.

 

You're looking at a weird mashup of Skyrim, Monster Hunter, Shadow of the Colossus and mild flavorings of DMC. It doesn't really resemble any of those games by themselves but sort of steals things from each of them, particularly in its fighting which with the bigger enemies are like mini boss battles but with a big open world to have as your arena.

 

Fights are big dramatic slogs with lots of avenues to fuck shit up. There's a real sense of danger in traversing the world also as when night falls you actually can't see in front of you, which I've never seen a game do before or since.

 

Also it's getting a Netflix anime which will probably suck, in fact I think it's out tomorrow.
