Black Myth: Wukong - an action-RPG based on classic Chinese tale Journey to the West - has been announced for consoles and PC alongside an impressive 13 minute gameplay video. That video is getting some sections of the internet very excited indeed.Developed by Game Science, Black Myth appears to be taking soulslike approach to gameplay, but with a vibrant environmental art style (created in Unreal Engine 4), and a neat stealth mechanic in which you turn into a cicada to avoid bigger threats.

I think it looks possible but where does the talent come from? This looks like a game made by Platinum with a Naughty Dog budget and support from Guerilla for the visuals.

Why, and how, would China have a team with those kind of resources just sitting there making a non-mobile game that wouldn't even have a market locally?

Alright, maybe this is my most anticipated next-gen game right now. This is a game to buy a next gen console for for sure.

Love everything about it. The combat, the enemy designs, the atmosphere, the incredible special effects. The ending of that dragon boss fight was spectacular.

If we can believe it or not is the question. I hope so.

Yeah, I mean I keep repeating myself but for some reason this is a game I'll only start to accept as being real when it's on my console and monkey boy is being moved around with the pad I'm holding. I mean just look at that snow, are we really there yet?

Black Myth: WuKong developer faces boycott after CEO’s sexually explicit remarks

Quote

A string of sexually charged online comments from the founder of a Chinese game developer caused a furor on the Chinese internet last week, prompting intense criticism from female video game players calling for changes to the male-dominated culture of gaming in China.

Later, the backlash intensified after several old job posts by the game studio resurfaced, which revealed that sexually objectifying women has long been part of the company culture.

So after the Series X/S version was delayed for "optimization" Microsoft has issued a statement on the matter...

Quote

“We’re excited for the launch of Black Myth Wukong on Xbox Series X|S and are working with Game Science to bring the game to our platforms. We can’t comment on the deals made by our partners with other platform holders, but we remain focused on making Xbox the best platform for gamers, and great games are at the center of that.”

Being slightly vaguely worded has led people to question if Sony have signed some kind've exclusivity deal...

I had every intention of buying this but saw a headline today calling it tough as nails, now I'm not so sure... I don't know if I want that in my life right now. I usually pre-order but I guess I'd better wait for reviews with this one.

This is sitting on 82 percent with Metacritic at the minute (PC version only)... for some reason PS5 codes went out late so reviews aren't available for that version... not sure if that's on purpose or I'm just being cynical.
