Sega are making more layoffs, and have let Relic go independent (sold them to themselves I guess?)

Sega has sold Relic Entertainment, and will cut 240 roles across Sega Europe, Creative Assembly and Sega HARDlight

Relic is best known for the Company of Heroes and Dawn of War games, and recently developed the new Age of Empires for Microsoft. Relic will transition to an independent studio and will no-longer be part of the Sega group of studios.

The majority of the 240 job cuts are across Creative Assembly and Sega Europe, while there will be a ‘small number’ cut from Sega HARDLight. There was no mention of other Sega UK studios, including Two Point Studios and Sports Interactive.

Crazy Taxi looks really poor, but it's still very early days and we don't know how far along that footage is from. It doesn't look like a Crazy taxi game regardless, which I know we knew, but sad to see

I really want to go back and finish Metaphor. Even at 20 hours I was a bit burnt out but I might have been playing too much, too quickly. I did really like it

Sega's Older Games Are Outselling New Titles 4-to-1

Sega's latest financials show that its back catalog continues to drive the bulk of its video game sales. During fiscal year 2025, the company sold 24.87 million "Repeat" titles—i.e., games released in previous years—compared to just 6.57 million new releases, a 4-to-1 ratio. Despite the lower volume, new titles nearly matched older ones in revenue thanks to higher average prices, bringing in $226 million versus $289 million. However, Sega's free-to-play games like Persona 5: The Phantom X and Sonic Rumble outperformed both, generating approximately $317 million in revenue. For fiscal year 2026, Sega forecasts approximately $451 million in F2P revenue, as well as $300 million in "Repeat" game net sales. Earnings from new title sales are projected to remain flat during the current fiscal year, which kicked off on April 1.

Persona titles were among the highest-performing products in the "Repeat" games segment during FY 2025. Even though the long-running series received no new entries between April 2024 and March 2025, 3.58 million Persona games were sold in this period.

Also mentioned in the article that overall Sega revenue down 9.4% But expecting a big rebound in 2026. Big games coming, perhaps?

They also said Sonic X Shadow Generations did really well. Hint, hint, Sega. That format for a Sonic game has a lot of fans!

get ready for Sonic Rush HD X Silver!

edit: I suppose this year we've not had a full Yakuza game, a full Sonic, or a full Persona. Switch 2 gives them the chance to rerelease a couple of games, and maybe we'll get another of their teased old series games alongside Shinobi

I’m surprised how much money Sonic Rumble made. It’s one of those games that has 0 conversation around it in gaming culture but must be going crazy with kids on iPad

I want them to bring that and the Sonic Dreams games to console. Sonic Dreams was good on iPad but the controls were rubbish. Proper stick and buttons and there’s a nice little game there

Sonic R HD! Sonic Rivals 3?! Sonic Rush Adventure World Tour?!?! 🤪

Probably that Racing game Cross Worlds and a Sonic Unleashed Remaster (PC just had that well received fan port of Unleashed but consoles still need a version)

Also that’s a fantastic render of Sonic
