Final Fantasy VII Remake (NO ROCHE SLANDER)

I don’t think I’m going to play the DLC. I’ll work on these last challenges this week for the Plat then having a big break from FF7

 

Looking at the guides I need lots of stat materia at max so think I might beat the game first to help level those up and then chapter select come back and do the Top Secrets fight

Did chapter 17 on hard but chapter 18 is a whole other beast. I’ve managed to get to the Bahumet part once so far, but have no idea how to fight it. Everything it does just kills a character. Think this will be another thing I look up a video for and just follow it frame by frame because I don’t have the patience for this. I just want to get to the end

This is one of the worst levels I’ve ever played in any game. The fights are bullshit and the amount of unskippable cutscenes is sinful and the lack of checkpoints is ridiculous. Everyone involved with making this should be fucking shot

I don't really remember the last fight very well, but you should give Rebirth a skip imo. The combat only gets more complicated in that.

It’s not complicated. It’s just bullshit. I did end up doing it but even then I did nothing different. The enemies just didn’t all team up and spam attacks on the same character and I had a lucky limit break with Cloud that beat Bahumet

 

That level is terrible as well. So many pointless unskippable cutscenes

 

`Last thing to do is this VR mission. The definition of unreliable. Even the YT videos are like “Have this set up, but do this if this happens, or do that if that happens, and sometimes you just need to reset”

If the guide in the video seems unreliable, it's probably a shit guide. I don't remember remake's VR fights very well but I beat all those VR summons powered up in Rebirth and spent ages theorycrafting builds and party compositions and stuff. There's always a way, and it is a bit trial and error, but it's basically never a dice roll unless you are just trying to brute force everything, ignoring as much as possible to get it over with in the most frustrating fashion.

 

This isn't even trying to be a brag as such (I'll keep that to the rebirth thread where I posted those vids) but just saying that your whole way of hitting your head against the wall with this game never makes sense to me. It seems like such a waste of time

 

In the interests of diplomacy however, I went back and read my old posts in this thread about these VR fights and I'm scrubquoting pretty hard about it back then, so I am curious to revisit at some point to see how I feel, maybe when part 3 comes out

Im really curious to see what you’d think of Rebirth TBH. This is an easy 9.5/10 for me. Rebirth i can’t remember what I gave it at the time but id give it a 6/10 if you asked me now. You’d probably love it.

Rebirth's combat increases the slider to the right on all the things he's complaining about. Stuff attacking offscreen, where you have to wait and pause and move the camera around to even have a chance of reacting to it or seeing it. It's even more of a RTWP type of thing, and has more difficult action combat as well. All the handy tooltips that Remake gives you to telegraph attacks, Rebirth is less generous with those as well.

 

Aerith is actually strong though now, as a plus. Provided you actually learn how to use her, loads of ppl don't and only use her weakest abilities when she's like top 2 best in the game

 

Also my ratings on these games are reversed. 6 for remake 9.5 for rebirth

Done, platinum got, game deleted. Jesus Christ. One thing I c couldn’t figure out how to do was use ATB Assist properly to keep everyone with bar. It seems like just juggle commands really fast with Tifa and use her triangle punch in between commands. But my bar was not filling up like in the video at all and had to resort to using Haste-All

I think using a triangle skill would cancel the atb assist proc, but I've never used it like that so I dunno

 

With Cloud I usually disordered into focus strike, tho I think that doesn't work in Rebirth. Tifa I liked to overpower combo into focus thing. Works extremely well with double unbridled strength, or a starshower combo

 

It's fucking crazy when used on Yuffie in Rebirth. Sort of a weak character but can attack a lot and feed do much ATB. Random weak spell into blindside, give her the accessory that allows 3 atb occasionally, just constant atb. Combined with Aeriths atb ward it can turn into nonsense

 

Fun on Cait Sith too, just spam dice rolls. Tons of atb and random cool effects

I might just have been using it wrong but without doing triangle punch to get Tifa her next gauge she couldn’t do 3 ATB commands in (near enough) succession anyway

She builds ATB way faster when she is chi level 3, or whatever the unbridled strength levels are. It changes her square combos not just her triangle attacks

 

Overpower jumps straight to the combo ender so it's a nice one to be aggressive with if she is in level 2 or 3

 

But its simpler with Cloud. Disorder, which refunds half an ATB bar, then mash square a little and do another atb. That's what I used in the airbuster vid on the previous page.
