Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis Releases 9th June

Quote

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, the standalone-expansion-style next instalment in Sega's long-running free-to-play online action-RPG series, will - following its beta last month - be making its way to Xbox and PC next Wednesday, 9th June.

Announced last summer, New Genesis is described as the "next-generation" of Phantasy Star Online 2, and catapults the action forward 1,000 years after the Oracle's battle in PSO2.

Bundled alongside the base game, it includes a new graphics engine, enhanced character models, a new multi-weapon system, and, most notably, a "wide-open battlefield" with changing time and weather, traversable using new abilities like the Photon Dash and Photon Glide. There's also cross-platform play, plus fully localised text and character voices in English.

Previously, Sega explained character creation and avatars would be compatible between Phantasy Star Online 2 and New Genesis, with the former's weapons, units, and mags being usable in New Genesis, while other data such as emotes, Star Gems, and Arks Cash could be shared between both games. Levels, EXP, skills, photon arts, techniques, and currency affecting game economy are not transferable, however.

Looking forward to giving this a go.

Yeah, that's the frustrating thing that despite it being in all intents and purposes it's PSO3 but they want to tie it to PSO2's player base.  I think they would have been okay if they were more confident in it as a new start.

BTW, if you are playing on PC there's a good chance you will need to download a fan patcher called the 'PSO tweaker', because for some reason the game is really difficult to install through proper channels. Dunno why this is but I couldn't even get onto the main menu with the steam download (which I've fixed now with the tweaker)
