Maryokutai
The same as mfnick, more playing what I have and less adding to the backlog. I started off 2024 with the same idea and kind of pulled it off for about six-ish months, so hopefully I can get through the entire year like that this time. Will be a test of will with Switch 2 coming out and presumably getting a lot of ports that'll draw my attention for no other reason than them being there, but I'll try regardless.
one-armed dwarf
I usually fail to stick to resolutions so I'll pick something reasonable and resolve to beat Doom Eternal on Ultra Nightmare before Dark Ages comes out.
DANGERMAN
I've touched on this before but to somehow find more time for games. This past year I've really struggled to play after work. There was a spell I was playing my Steam Deck or my Switch on my commute in, but the work laptop is so heavy adding a Deck to that, along with a bottle of water, potentially some shopping on the way home, it just wasn't doing me any favours. Plus, there's not always a ton of things you want to play in chunks like that. That said, Dragon Quest 3 would benefit from it So yeah, I don't know how I'm going to do it, but fit gaming around or in my commute or exercise time
Maf
Like said above by everyone trying to spend less and play more. Spending less going well! 5 days in, no new games, woop-woop. But playing more not going very well. 5 days in, still on Dragon Age 4, reverse-woop-woop
Maryokutai
1 hour ago, Maf said: But playing more not going very well. 5 days in, still on Dragon Age 4, reverse-woop-woop Do you plan on rushing through RPGs in two days? I started playing Veilguard a month ago. From my perspective that's a nice benefit, an entire month during which I wasn't lured by something new. Maf
No, but I’m starting to feel like the game has outstayed its welcome. I switched it on both last night and this afternoon for 2 minutes each before turning it off. I want to get it done, but I also need a bit of a break from it
one-armed dwarf
You should read mfnick's resolution, I also resolve to not play anymore Indiana Jones or any other game that I'm uninterested in.
Maryokutai
Ah, yeah, I can see that. Haven't had the issue with Veilguard (yet?) but I usually split off RPG in two or three chunks. After I'm done with this I'm going back to Ys X for example.
Maf
I don’t dislike it, I’m just a bit bored of it right now. I want to get my completion rate up but I’m already struggling with the first game this year lol
radiofloyd
Similar to everyone else’s, I’d like to make the time to play more, be consistent with it, somehow try to make a dent in my PS4 and Switch backlog.
Metroid66
Find a course for dummies on YouTube that tells you how to use mods. Interesting to read how many need to get into the mindset for sacking a game they're not enjoying. It's definitely easier with gamepass et al. Over the last month's I've gibbed 2 games without giving them a second thought, whereas I'm still annoyed at leaving FF 7 rebirth, even that game was an insult to my intelligence, because I bought it. Nag
Quote Nag says... "Who's your favourite supporting character and why? Party members from RPG's, non playable characters from things like Resident Evil etc... as long as it isn't the leading playable character everyone is game."
DANGERMAN
I really liked the robot you could get in New Vegas. On the same lines I feel like I'm forgetting someone else who followed you around and murdered everyone, possibly the sword from one of the later Castlevania games The first character that came to mind was probably Yangus from Dragon Quest 8. He's not the best character in your party, but he's a likable dude Oh, also Millenia from Grandia 2. She's got some really powerful moves and she's the character that puts the arsey main character in his place There's also a few characters in Shining Force that are completely broken late game and could beat levels on their own, same with Disgaea
shinymcshine
The answer is Argo from Shadow of the Colossus 😢 Video gaming's own Li'l Sebastian moment.
Maf
Even though she’s only in it a bit and mostly in the beginning, I love Saria from OoT specifically for this moment I think it’s a really lovely bit of story telling which OoT is underrated for in general She also has one of the best songs in a game full of the best songs so there’s that as well

spatular
There’s probably loads of more recent ones I’ve forgot about but I really liked the robot from kotor
HandsomeDead
Mimir! The smartest man in the world. He just fills the space with stories but they're good and funny. It's Reyn time! The sweetest boy and effective tank, drawing all the agro while cheering on your back attacks. The beloved Tifa. Too nice for her own good but I'm not gonna confront her about it with her show stopping Limit Break.
Metroid66
Yeah, mimir is a cracking shout. Also Alex in HL2, although I'm not sure if you get to play as her. Got a play thru planned so I'll find out soon.
