Pickups from Brighton Retro game fair, wouldnt really say many bargains to be had. But happy to pick both these up in fairly good conditon.

More stuff. The Sonic Lego was being cleared out in my local Tesco because the box is crushed. I think I need to tidy up some stuff to make space before I could put it out somewhere. 

 

The big game box on the left is a Dreamcast game called Gunlord. It was originally an indie Neo Geo game but got a Dreamcast port, seems to play like Turrican 

 

The Japanese Saturn game on the right is a spin off of a series of dating games. It's called Tokimeki Memorial Taisen, and it's a bit like Puyo Puyo, looks fun. @spatulartalked me in to buying it

I was talking about Magic Carpet in the Discord the other week. It was huge for a year or so, constant talk about it, but I don't think I've heard it mentioned in years and years. I didn't especially love it back in the day, but seemingly no one wants the Japanese Saturn version, so it was cheap enough to buy, cool cover too 

 

Virtual On I used to own back in the day, I loved it. I haven't owned it since rebuying a Saturn 20 years ago, despite owning the Twin Stick for it, so that should be fun to play around with

This version of D2 is the silver variant, and it's the last of the 4 Japanese variants I 'needed', so now I've got the complete set of them. No one will care, but I love D2, I actually wish there was more merch for it so I could properly geek out about it

I just bought the Pandora Box. The full collection of Borderlands games and add-on/dlc's. It goes for £29.95 on Steam, but as I already had Borderlands, Borderlands 2, and the Pre-Sequel on my Steam account, I paid about £12 for Borderlands 3, Tales from the Borderlands, and New Tales from the Borderlands, as well as all the Borderlands dlc's, etc that I didn't own.

 

I already had the Borderlands 3 base game on my Epic account, but none of the dlc. This was a cheap way to do it.

 

And also, the Bush 50 inch TV shown in my last 'Post your Gaming Setup' post died last week. It still worked, but the backlight failed. So I bought an LG 50UR78006LK 50 inch Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR LED TV for £350 from Currys. I didn't want to spend that money from my savings, but we needed a living room TV. And as a side benefit, my Xbox series S now has a 4k screen to play with.

Is that a X Com style game?

The boardgame uses a card based system (on a grid based area) to determine moves / attacks etc. I'm led to understand from the reviews that the videogame is the same - and again if it's like the boardgame you level up by getting additional/different cards in your deck etc.

 

"Dungeons are card-driven tactical battles, some of the best you can find, that use a flexible system where you choose two cards per adventurer each turn, then execute the action from the top half of one card and the bottom of the other. Monsters attacks play out simply, no complex AI here, but each round is planned in advance so you don't know what the monsters are going to do until you've locked in your options. Each card also has a numerical value, its initiative, which is when you act in the round."

 

Not sure if that also sounds like Midnight Suns or not !??

The Dustborn box got damaged unfortunately because amazon just doesn't give a shit anymore. I think it's time to order from somewhere else. As for AC7, I feel the pain of whoever designed that cover only for their boss to tell them to put a fat ugly box on top.

Even worse that the 'fat ugly box' looks to be using a different font than the game art too - and WTF are "Aircrafts" !?

New games, well "new" 

 

 

Grandia 3 on the PS2. I love the Grandia games, this one isn't supposed to be amazing, and it never got a Western release so it might be a pain to play, but it was cheap and nice to have. 

 

The PS5 game is called Gal Guardians: Demon Purge. I didn't realise it at the time, and I don't really understand how it fits, but it's a spin off of GalGun. Anyway, it plays like Castlevania except with 2 characters you switch between. It's 2 player, but annoyingly not 2 players online 

 

The Saturn game is Anarchy in the Nippon, which is made by some Virtua Fighter devs, and is normal everyday people fighting like Virtua Fighter

御意見無用 is a bizarre Japanese title. It literally means something like “opinions not needed”, but it does seem to exist as a phrase outside of this game. I’ll ask my Japanese friends if that expression means anything to them. You should stream it!
