one-armed dwarf Posted July 3 Posted July 3 According to the update in this thread they are, so it seems like we're going to be hearing about more cancellations/layoffs from this for a bit https://www.resetera.com/threads/publisher-for-upcoming-romero-games-title-cuts-funding-related-to-cuts-at-xbox-game-studios.1234857/ Edit like there's also rumours on bsky that Kojima's Jordan Peele game is getting cut as well, but just rumours 1

one-armed dwarf Posted July 7 Posted July 7 I'm confused on how this works, someone I have on LinkedIn I learned worked there, she posted that she got laid off and is looking for new roles. Do they hire everyone back if they get a publisher or is it just leadership and they start over again, given that many will have to move on and get new jobs Fucking Microsoft man, what a shit company 1
Maryokutai Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Maybe they still had to size down to remain in operation. I don't think these smaller independent acts usually have a lot of capital they can fall back on in situations like these. I really like the 'we cannot disclose the publisher's identity, but some may infer it from public information'. Probably the most subtle way to say 'yeah, it was those assholes'. That said I think this reads somewhat optimistic? If the game really is as far along as they say, that'll be a cheap get for another publisher where the brute of financing will 'only' be marketing.
Maryokutai Posted July 10 Posted July 10 What a cool idea. Anyone on PC tried this yet? I'd like to see this ported on Switch (2), would make for a great handheld game.
DANGERMAN Posted July 10 Posted July 10 I watched either Nextlander or Remap play this. I didn't get my head around some of the rules in it, but they seemed to enjoy it
one-armed dwarf Posted July 21 Posted July 21 In the world of Fallout mods, saw this on youtube, a Fallout fangame that's built from a GZ DOOM wad* or something like that https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fallout/a-jaw-dropping-mod-to-remake-part-of-fallout-1-in-doom-has-resurfaced-after-3-years-of-silence/ Very interesting hybrid of the classic Fallout visual and UI style with FPS gameplay of the new ones. Incredibly detailed with all the animations and sprite work (or it might be 3d models all pixely, but it works). Screen shake would drive me nuts though but most games nowadays let you toggle that off *basically a DOOM mod or conversion that's very far removed from the original game at this point, I mean you can look up and down. Sacrilege
one-armed dwarf Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Really need to mark that as NSFW lol I'm surprised it isn't flagged on youtube 1
shinymcshine Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Hellraiser (aka Hellbound Heart) had such great potential as a movie series but went downhill really quickly (after the 2nd film) - haven't seen the 2022 reboot yet - but it might make for a reasonable game I suppose. Clive Barker's Undying (PC) was pretty good and I quite enjoyed Jericho (360) and there was a Nighbreed (aka Cabal) one on the C64 too (don't recall that being particularly good, side scrolling beat 'em up).
Nag Posted July 22 Posted July 22 I played Jericho and it was indeed pretty good... also played Nightbreed on the Spectrum, can't really remember that too much though.
Sly Reflex Posted July 22 Posted July 22 I had Nightbreed on the C64 and only every played it 3 or 4 times because 1. It needed to be loaded every time you died for some reason (the copy of Midnight Resistance that came with the C64 was the same) and 2. It scared the shit out of me as a kid.

I really liked the remake, surprised there hasn't been news of another yet When I heard about this earlier I expected it to be more like Silent Hill. Maybe it will be, but it also looks more full on than Silent Hill is for the most part
shinymcshine Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Yep, the downside of the trailer was the gorefest element - where the thing might have benefitted from a slow burn.
Sly Reflex Posted July 22 Posted July 22 2 hours ago, Craymen Edge said: I like the look of this I thought I'd seen this elsewhere, but no, that game has a similar castle mechanics where you control the castle as well as fighting other castles to get bigger.
Nag Posted July 26 Posted July 26 Don't think there's a thread for it (I did search) but Alien Rogue Incursion is getting a non-vr edition on PlayStation 5 and PC. Nice. 2
