I watched King of Comedy recently, weird film. I wonder if the musical aspect is fairly understated cause it was more noticeable in the last trailer

 

Folie a deux means something like shared delusion, I think.

Didn't even know folie à deux was informal for an actual form of psychosis, I just took it literally and thought they picked a French subtitle to make it sound more artsy. But that's actually a very good fit for the classic Joker-Harley relationship.

 

I'll watch that movie, though maybe not in cinemas. I fear this might attract a crowd unprepared for what it is.

The previous trailer apparently contains homages to stuff like The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, a famous French musical. 

 

I've not seen that, and am not particularly in a rush to do so, but I like how they are smuggling classic film influences into these films. Sorta like how Logan had heavy Shane homages in it

 

It does sort of result in the first Joker film feeling little more than a tribute act though. With ridiculously good acting, lets be fair, but still. I guess it's sort of like a more straightforward version of what Tarantino does though

I think this is the first trailer for Creature Commandos

 

 

This is actually the first official entry in to the new DC Universe under James Gunn. Apparently the voice actors they picked for these roles will also play them in live action if/when they’re used

 

So I’m guessing that’s Viola Davis voicing Waller?

 

I don’t know any of these characters. I know Weasel from the Suicide Squad film and I read a comic once where Superman fought Frankenstein but I can’t remember why

 

This is what a lot of DC is going to be like under James Gunn. Superman, Batman and who the fuck is that? Because I think the who the fuck is that characters are the ones he really likes

there's a new Batman animated series on Amazon in the style of the old 90s show. It seems pretty good so far but it's going over a lot of old ground you've seen a hundred times, and they're really altered a couple of characters for no reason that I can see. Which I'm not against, given, like I said, we're seeing the 1st time Batman encounters a lot of these people, and that's something we've all seen a hundred times, but there's one in particular that completely changes the personality of the character imo (from the first few episodes, so that I don't spoil who)

Reactions are coming in for Joker: Folie a Deux. So far it's the definition of 'mixed'. Like the original then. Altho it seems like the highly positive ones are just from tweets which are always very hype-mongery imo, reviews will be interesting

I'm interested, I'll watch it but I think it's going to be a stream. I am looking forward to it tho, if only for the musical part. I don't know what else they can do with this character archetype or say that Scorsese hasn't done but maybe the musical element is where it will depart from those influences in a big way

The Penguin seems to be getting good reviews. I thought the trailers were terrible so I'm surprised, but I rly liked the Matt Reeves Batman so I will have to watch this

Feel like all the hype has drained from this one after the reviews, has bomba painted all over its clowney face, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice will win this year's clownoff

 

Cool trailer but man why can't a film have lighting now, has to be all dark and muted and shit

Has anyone watched Penguin yet? The first episode is out and I loved it. It's more of a crime family story, so far at least, Penguin attempting to rise to power. It's very well acted

I'm going to watch it but was waiting for maybe the second episode to watch together with the first as like a feature

 

I was reading that the script for The Batman 2 has been finished. I wonder do they find more Gotham stories to tell off the back of Penguin's success. Something like 5.4 million viewers or something, I don't know what that figure means really but it seems significant

 

One thing I also wonder is does it start to get awkward with the new DC universe stuff they're trying to do, if this does really well. I wouldn't mind it if they just did a few movies and one or two shows and called it a day, rather than stretching it all out forever and ever

As Joker 2 bombed so badly, it's already out on VOD today. Expensive though, 22 euro on Apple TV. Strange Darling is also out today at the same price so I'm still going to wait for Joker to hit 'free' streaming

I’m half way through Joker 2 electric boogaloo and I quite like it. The worst thing about it tho is that a lot of the singing looks so clearly played over the top of them lip syncing its proper poor at times.

This is just a promotional interview for Creature Commandos, but I've time stamped the videos where James Gunn has a mini rant about the state of Hollywood making movies without a script (And he doesn't say Marvel but it certainly sounds like he's talking about Marvel)

Here is the cast of the new Creature Commandos reacting to the trailer, and as can see in the tweet, which is the same in the comments, people are flaming them for not “reacting” and saying they should leave this stuff to the kids.

 

Maybe they’re right about not having grown ups do reactions, but I didn’t see anything wrong here? They’re just watching a thing like normal people watch stuff. Just because they’re not stopping it every 5 seconds and getting up shouting “OH MY GOD” 

 

I haven’t thought about this until now. But teenagers and young people today don’t think people really watch stuff the way people do reactions on YouTube, right? 
 

I actually thought this trailer was really good and stopped watching the actors and enjoyed the trailer. It’s well made

Apparently there’s a trailer dropping for Superman on Thursday. The film is supposed to come out in July. So maybe it’s spaghetti at the wall rumour, but 5-6 months is typical for the marketing to start on these big films
