I am still really confused as to what the point of that system is if it can't get the 'next gen' graphics option for certain games.

Maybe for people like me, who couldn't give a monkey's about such things, who, in the opinion of Phil Spencer himself, will probably be the vast majority of those entering the Xbox-verse when the final tally is made.

I also think this news might placate some who fear the S might bottleneck graphical progress as the generation progresses. It's clear if the little white box doesn't have the grunt for certain refinements they'll just scale back there, and only there. Your rays and p numbers are safe.

Xbox Series S doesn't have ray tracing for this

Completely agree. Seems like it will run a lot of next-gen/cross-gen games at 900p as well which is ? in 2020.

I feel Phil is gonna be eating Crow on that one, XSS still hasn't sold out in a lot of EU countries. XSX will move far more units.

I don't want to start a big flame war but i'd kinda figured they'd said it was only resolution that had to be downscaled. Optimising for multiple skus is bound to cause some sort of friction. It is supposed to have been a problem for Halo Infinite apparently.

I wouldn't even be playing dmc with RT anyway, I think I'm still going to stick to PC.

The Vergil DLC for us non PS5 and XSX/S peasants comes out on December 15. It's gonna suck watching all those combo videos until then

I think that's right. Of course they'll just claim they aren't in control of how third parties use their tech. Fair enough, but they have to make sure their own new games hit the mark as advertised, or they'll be in trouble.

I, for one, won't hesitate to use the £43 I have in my account to bring them down. They have been warned.

Of course XSX will move far more units during the launch window when the hardcore early adopters buy their systems.

Series S is the model the casuals will pick up without pre-ordering when they want to play FIFA 2022 next year.

It's hard to say right now which model will be the most popular, but I doubt Series S will lag far behind, if at all.

I strongly disagree. I think XSX will far outsell XSS throughout the course of this next generation. Casuals who just want to play FIFA 22 next year will buy an XSX (or most likely a PS5 in Europe).

A really tiny bit of Vergil gameplay

He has beowulf and force edge, the weapons he had in DMC3 and 4. So not just a copy paste of the boss fight at least.

I've cancelled my PS5 pre-order so will have to wait just over a month to check it out. Capcom not doing a deep dive on Vergil mechanics means I'm glad to wait cause I'm just not sure there's much effort going into him. DMC4 was a spammy powerhouse, DMC3 was anaemic. The Vergil in DmC was oddly more complete and well thought out than either of the OG ones, tho still rubbish overall.

Vergil gameplay

Watching this now

edit cavalier angelo fight

If I recall it was either IGN or gamespot that had a reviewer who was really good at DMC, not sure if that guy is playing on any of these previews.

Kind of looks the same as DMC4, can easily wait for this. The V mechanic looks bad compared to Dante's SDT which was amazing for cancelling opportunities with the SSSS mechanic (where you can swap to it instantly for free)

edit that LDK video blakey posted shows better gameplay.

It's a real shame that Legendary Dark Knight isn't coming to PC cause Vergil's whole gamplay style in DMC4 and now 5 is clearly built around massive AOE burst damage. He is the character you are supposed to use on that difficulty and there's no reason at all why PC can't handle that mode.

Just have to wait for the PC mod version I guess

I guess this isn't particularly surprising but the PS5 version of the game has a separate trophy list

https://www.exophase.com/game/devil-may-cry-5-special-edition-psn/trophies/

Which tells me if I had kept my pre-order of PS5 to play this I'd have to unlock everything all over again. Thank god for cheat engine on PC, no need for grinding/MTX when I can just give myself a billion orbs and buy all Vergil's moves straight away lol

DF talk about high FPS, also ray tracing not that anyone cares about RT in DMC

IMO 120hz is absolutely vital for the Turbo mode in this game. When I look at my 60hz captures of turbo mode on PC it looks really choppy and hard to follow.

edit I watched that video and actually DMC5 doesn;t seem to run good on PS5, or at least not as good as you'd hope. wtf

The legendary dark knight mode which was exclusive to PS5 and Series X has been modded into PC now, DMC is now a musuo game.

Nero

Spoiler

Dante

Spoiler

I'm generally a Nero stan but Dante is just way more fun in this mode tbh.

It's cool but janky, this mode is supposed to be exclusive to PS5 and series x so even an unstable mod by a bunch of college kids is something at least. It can be customed to any difficuly, ie so that enemies have way less health and deal less damage. It gets boring if they take too long to die.

First time actually using photo mode in this

fyi, Vergil out on Steam and last gen consoles now.

Played some of him, seems alright but still kind of mashy next to Nero and Dante. Will probably be like V for me, an interesting distraction for a while.

His mechanic revolves around a 'concentration' meter, which is all about moving slowly and not whiffing attacks to access ridiculous powered up moves that clear the screen of enemies. ie, he is a character basically built for the LDK mode (horde mode) and sort of boring and broken on other difficulties.

He's got this timing mechanic also with the judgement cuts, but I can't figure it out. Apparently you can chain a bunch of them together or something so he just spams the attack like when you fight him as a boss.

The DLC is only a fiver so it's a pretty good deal considering the amount of replay value these characters have. Pretty sure

Spoiler

Dante is a boss

in the DLC as well

Unfortunately the new update broke all the mods so the PC version is boring to play again. The awesome LDK mod no longer works.
