radiofloyd Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 https://www.destructoid.com/i-m-totally-ready-to-explore-the-sinking-city-544854.phtml This game looks cool. The release date clashes badly with Sekiro though. From the developers of Sherlock: Crimes and Punishments. 2
DisturbedSwan Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 I had heard of this somewhere before - maybe PC Gamer or something - but didn’t realise it was coming out so soon. This is the first I’ve seen of the Gameplay too, it looks really interesting, I do worry a little bit about leaving the city completely open ended as it could feel aimless or you could get easily stuck but it definitely looks very cool. If I can get it for £20 or so I might give it a go.
Hendo Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 I’m a big fan of their Sherlock games and it looks to be more of that so I’ll pick it up.
radiofloyd Posted March 8, 2019 Author Posted March 8, 2019 Seems like the developers agreed that the release window was a little crowded, so the game has been delayed until June 27th. https://gematsu.com/2019/03/the-sinking-city-delayed-to-june-27
DisturbedSwan Posted March 8, 2019 Posted March 8, 2019 That is very sensible. Very late though, surely the discs would’ve already started printing by now?! Guess they’ll just leave them in a warehouse somewhere until June.
DisturbedSwan Posted June 26, 2019 Posted June 26, 2019 Currently sitting at a 71% average from 57 critic reviews on OpenCritic And a 73% average from 24 critic reviews on Metacritic (PC Version)
DANGERMAN Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 the short version of that is that Big Ben as publisher were late with payments, started to demand the source code despite only publishing the game, cancelled bonus payments, and started doing stuff with the licence that they don't have the right to
shinymcshine Posted August 26, 2020 Posted August 26, 2020 Notably, it is still available through some routes, as per Frogware statement: "For now, you can now buy a DRM free PC version of the game from our website here, or through the partners that we ourselves dealt with such as Origin here or Gamesplanet here, or on Nintendo Switch here."
shinymcshine Posted August 28, 2020 Posted August 28, 2020 Went to buy from the eshop and saw they had the deluxe edition, inc. 2x dlc, for £11.99 so went for that instead. lt'll be a few weeks before I play though.
DANGERMAN Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 Good for them. There's been a couple of times I've toyed with buying this and held off because I wasn't sure if it was their version or not 2
shinymcshine Posted January 3, 2024 Posted January 3, 2024 It's an okay game, just gets very repetitive quite quickly, so if you do get it, then maybe just stick to the main quest (as side quests are pretty much all the same pattern) - it does initially bristle with some great ideas, but goes downhill rapidly.
shinymcshine Posted March 6, 2024 Posted March 6, 2024 So this has just been posted: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/frogwares/the-sinking-city-2?utm_source=social-bio&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=kickstarter&fbclid=IwAR1gTOsr4b5smDVRLJXsnM44Qfo-Ly4c_115-0oPU7LcLbRCySdcR835BC4
