I actually don’t think it’s got too many tracks at all, my problem was the sheer number of easy - medium tracks. Which, IMO are the most boring. And not enough medium - hard courses.

 

They may have patched out the grind but I remember it wasn’t really a issue until later in the game. You can fly through the early stages but then I hit a wall where every few courses I had to grind for ages - and I was doing lots of repeating courses too.
 

One of my other big issues was the menu/map design. It flowed so much better when it was just a list of tracks to run through and repeat as and when you wanted. 
 

Looking back I think this is by far the worst of the series. This is first time I’ve not even bothered with the DLC tracks too. And I bought the deluxe edition to get them as I always loved them in previous games. 
 

I agree with the loot boxes though. Probably the most pointless I’ve ever experienced.
