Soon going to be playing through the 3rd (and probably final) DLC for this. So seems a good time to throw down an opinion.

This is definitely one of the most fun games i’ve played this year. I’ve a lot of respect for Rebellion, their Sniper Elite series is consistently brilliant (shooting Nazis in the nads? Who doesn’t love that.). So I was definitely interested in this. It doesn’t carry across the gory X-Ray cam feature of Sniper Elite. But that’s understandable,as it’s going for a different vibe. It plays out like an Olden days Adventure movie, with a Narrator providing a running commentary, often genuinely being hilarious (though for some reason has an absolute hatred of cats, and isn’t afraid to show it).

The combat is simple to grasp, with a small selection of weapons (sniper rifles,SMGs,shotguns), with additional extra powerful weapons that you can buy from crates, using gold you get from treasure chests and killing enemies.

You also get special moves that you can activate with enough charge, ranging from damage reduction,to smart bombs.

One complaint though has to come with boss fights. Many of them require an accurate shot on a particular weak spot, often a quite small one. Doesn’t sound bad in theory. But when that boss is constantly moving, accuracy proves difficult. Add that to a swarm of enemies ganking you,and the difficulty in getting a decent shot gets even worse.

Co-op definitely helps in that regard. Bosses that took me a good 20 minutes to kill on my own, became a breeze when I was with a mate.

Its been a really enjoyable game, and the DLC missions have been quite decent. Charging £6 for each additional new character can go bollocks though.

It hit the PSN sales at Halloween, and probably will do so again before long. I’d certainly recommend it.

This is surprisingly good innit? Known as a shlooter these days with plenty of exploration thrown in amongst a ton of enemies and puzzles on the side. I've onlu just done the first mission but god damn it was good fun, just what I didn't know I was in the mood for.

Available on Xbox Game Pass right now.

@Hendo Yea dude, definitely.

I just went throught the second mission, harder than the first as you would expect and some of the puzzles had me stumped for a few seconds but it was really good. I managed to find all the cats in the level (there are 6) and that opens a secret door near the end, that was cool. I'm in to this game right now.

You can choose between four different character and each has a specific skill like one is a headshot speacialist, one is a keen sectret finder, one is and expolosion specialist and the last one does something i'm sure. One of the chicks is extra northern which will please a section here.

The extra English commentator is pretty funny, he's just sparse enough not to become annoying and he doesnt like cats. I like cats.

Yeah I love cats,so the narrators constant hatred for them was a bit jarring. But the game had me proper laughing on several occasions.

Finding most of the secrets isn’t too difficult,I co-oped it with a mate and managed most of them in our first playthrough. The DLC missions are also definitely worth playing.

Done the first mission, and I'd much rather play it in co-op, can easily start to feel overwhelmed with enemies.

The environment puzzles are cool. I messed one up from just guessing and then found out that 3 times getting it wrong locks you out from whatever was behind the door.

I can tell it's by Rebellion as the shooting feels similarly awkward and the right stick is a bit slow.

Not bad though, and I'm up for more of it.

The shooting is particularly bad with one boss, that shows up often. He has only one weak spot, first on his chest, then his back, and finally his head.

Actually hitting that weakspot is a colossal ballache. You can fire in its general direction, but not register a hit. Even with a sniper rifle.

If you had time to properly aim, that’d be fine. But you don’t, because you’re getting ganked by multiple enemies, that respawn constantly. They do eventually stop, but it takes a very long time.

Soloing it took me almost 20 minutes.Co-oping it,killed in about 5

minutes. I’m not kidding.

I played with some randoms last night.

It worked pretty well with people dropping in and out with no problems.

I can see the whole not sharing the loot being a problem though. One person left after they solved a puzzle, opened the door and another guy steamed in and looted the chest inside.

I had that fight solo earlier, not much fun on my own.

Done the mission after that too.

I’m enjoying it enough on my own though, which I’m surprised about. I was expecting a completely joyless time, like when you try Overcooked on your own.

@Hendo  and I pretty much caned most of this game this afternoon. It felt like we were pretty thorough with our exploring but we still missed loads of stuff. It gets pretty brutal in the latter half of the games, the enemies come in mass and they are varied and bastard like.

After you left to get food H I finished the last level. Used that sweet ass burst rifle that we both bought, it has 4 upgrade slots so now it has less recoil, more power, flame and ricochet. I also bought a new amulet power up, i can now rampage which will be super handy for taken down mass groups of enemies.

It does have a few issues, the shooting can be bad (missing from point blank) and the melee attack picks and chooses which angle it want's to strike at. Also, I'd say overall the levels are just a little too long. Overall though I'm having a brillinat time with it. If i'd have played it last year I think it would have been in my top 10.

I also bought that gun today, used the 4 upgrade slots so now it will freeze enemies, also set them on fire, has better recoil and does better headshot damage.

I haven’t done the last mission yet, just did the first mission again to find all the cats.

Agree on the shooting, it’s not so much fun as a shooter but having a grand old time doing the puzzles and adventuring.

Also trying out some new amulet powers, that I guess we found from picking up the relics?
