I’m calling shenanigans on those to be honest, easy to fake those kind of screenshots to make the game look good when it looked like a steaming pile of shit last year. That or they’re from a stupid high end PC setup.

Proof will be in the pudding when we see Craig or the weird Brute thing again if they’ve improved at all.

You would not be calling shenanigans if this was a playstation game lol.

Can we get away from this please. I would be if we saw a PS game looking and running like garbage at the backend of last year and then see these. Whether you believe that or not is up to you, but I’m not some deranged fanboy, I have preferences and have little to no faith in 343i or Microsoft’s management of their studios (aside from The Coalition) based on prior releases is all.

Up until the Xbox One I was a huge fan of the OG Xbox and 360 and most of their first party titles, I had an XBL account in 2004 ?

I used to be a huge Halo fan, I’ve still got a gigantic Master Chief helmet sitting in my spare gaming room. I care about the franchise, it’s just not going to go anywhere great as long as 343i have the reigns.

in defence of Blakey I raised an eyebrow at them too. Not that what's in those screenshots is beyond the current consoles, but there looks to be a lot of fine detail that I'm not sure you'd put it an FPS like Halo where you cover a lot of ground quite quickly. It reminds me a bit of Witcher 2's world

I wouldn't be surprised if things look a little softer at release, but don't take that as me saying it's impossible for it to look like that or anything. I suspect they are going to misread the criticism and make it look crazy good

They will scale things down to the hardware at some point but the only thing i get looking at those is maybe the higher quality lighting will be in 30fps mode only

The foliage and stuff doesn't look beyond something like Horizon, the draw distance is probably a bit better here. Like tbh Red Dead II on PC looks better than this imo so it should be ballpark for Series X

Halo 4 looked borderline next-gen when it came out on 360 and Halo 5 was not only very good looking but also an almost rock-solid 60fps throughout. They definitely have the talent to pull this off (and I don't even think it looks mind-blowingly good – could be the low-res though), the problem is and has always been cross-gen.

Just to be clear, I don't think they look impossibly good. The screens posted say they're 1080p but didn't fill my 1080p screen so it's impossible to say what it will actually look like at 4k. I was just surprised by some of the level of detail, particularly if that's just a random point in a level and not a starting area

Microsoft are going to make this look amazing. I don't think they needed to, but after the press they've had they're going to. If the XO version doesn't run well or look too good, it doesn't matter, barely anyone is going to be playing that version

Seems a bit odd to point that out because it's what everyone was expecting anyway. But maybe if we read between the lines this could mean that the Series XS is actually getting a different version of the game instead of just the same thing with higher resolution, FPS and Raytracing. That would certainly be a good way to go about this.

Yeah, well, never mind:

I mean it doesn't look bad or anything, but it's hardly the big leap some people might be hoping for compared to last year's presentation.

Edit: Ok, the uploaded screens are super tiny, here's the source: https://gamingbolt.com/halo-infinite-new-ultrawide-campaign-screenshots-show-lush-vegetation-and-environments

I dunno, the lighting seems much better, and there's a lot more volumetric stuff going on with the low level fog. Hopefully they'll release a 4k version of the video to compare a bit better. Glad to see less of the shitty alien geometry stuff from the initial trailer though. Looked like it'd been ripped out of minecraft.
