Maryokutai
I just struck me that the Storm siblings have a completely different ethnicity in the 2015 movie. They really put a lot of care into that project, didn't they. Part of me kind of wants to watch it though, out of morbid curiosity. Maybe I'll save it for the next time I catch the flu and my brain is on standby. Edit: imdb trivia for it is a gold mine: Quote ...the studio mandated heavy re-shoots. The newer scenes are easy to spot as Kate Mara had cut her hair and wore a blonde wig. Miles Teller also had facial hair that would appear and disappear between shots. Quote Stan Lee declined to make a cameo in the film. Quote Tommy Wiseau was a fan of the film, and wanted to direct the sequel. Unfortunately they never cite sources but god I so hope the last one is true.
OCH
It isn't just a bad Superhero film. It is a bad film full stop. Yes there is a specific scene wherein Kate Mara's hair actively changes between shots. Considering there are some strong actors in the film. They are effectively glitter on a turd.
Maf
Because of the new movie there’s been a lot of clips of the 2000’s FF movies about and it reminds me they are not as bad as people say. Yes, they are crappy, and as stories not very interesting. But there’s fun interplay between the characters. Especially Chris Evan’s who really gives the Human Torch character a lot of energy and effort The other day Marvel had a launch event for this trailer and the cast showed up. Conversely the new guy playing the Human Torch seems done with this already lol. He looks completely unhappy, doesn’t know where to look, feels really awkward (the whole thing was awkward to be fair) I hope at least he gets paid well
Maryokutai
He might have just been overwhelmed by it all, he's relatively new to this whole Hollywood thing. Before Stranger Things S4 aired in 2022 he was a complete nobody. Edit: I agree that the two FF movies with Evans and Alba are watchable. Dumb, but watchable. Johnny chasing the Silver Surfer in the second movie was a pretty solid action scene, too.

Maf
I tried watching Doctor Strange 2 again but I really dislike this film. It’s not even that I think it’s bad, it’s just too dark for me. So much death, so much gross magic stuff with zombies, all of the heroes are barely heroic, and the jokes aren’t good so it doesn’t balance the darkness with levity. It’s just kind of miserable
Maryokutai
It has its moments, but I wasn't a fan either. I've always wondered if the lame and unimaginative multiverse alternate reality tidbits (pizza balls, red and green traffic lights being swapped) were some kind of meta-commentary of the writers about how stale the MCU has become. For some reason those two things just stuck out to me for how exceptionally boring they were.
Maf
Watched Wakanda Forever today. Excellent movie. Especially impressive pulling off such a good superhero movie with no central superhero. It’s a film completely supported by the supporting cast and the way they weave the death of Black Panther in to the movie without it actually being the main plot point of the movie but motivates all the characters is amazing. This court scene as well is absolutely killer. No wonder they put it out for free as part of the marketing, they knew this was a winner I actually think Black Panther 1 is one of the worst MCU movies but the sequel is great. I think it’s a bit too long and the Iron Heart stuff is too forced. But I ate this up, loved it. Hope they get this director to come back and a BP3 because what style, class, heart and weight this film has.

DANGERMAN
Black Panther 2 is laughably bad. Absolutely dreadful film with awful writing and some misjudged performances
Maf
There’s a big plot hole in it where the Americans built a Vibranium detector and for some reason never wrote down how to build another one. I also like how the movie is really about Marvel politics. It’s handled really well and good fun until Namor turns around and goes “and we will burn the surface world!” It’s like the movie woke up and went shit we actually need someone who’s going to destroy something, quick, Namor, go off the deep-end. But I really liked it. It was a bit long and that puts me off the idea of sitting through it again, but I still liked it overall
one-armed dwarf
Really bad reviews for Captain America, the one film I thought looked sort of good. I guess that means F4 will be fucking incredible.

Maryokutai
One of many examples how detached internet discourse is from mainstream performance. There seems to be almost a hate-bandwagon online for this thing. I find it incredibly uninteresting unfortunately. I doubt I'll even check it out whenever it hits some streaming service. one-armed dwarf
It's because people threw a wobbler at comments Anthony Mackie made. Super benign comments as well, that Captain America isn't specifically about America but a sort of personal and moral ideal to aspire to. I mean I don't read comics so I don't know but it seems perfectly unobjectionable but the anti woke weirdos made it their new thing to get repetively riled up about Disney are going into an "anti DEI" era now tho so maybe they will begin to find common ground with the twitter assholes
