one-armed dwarf Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 The writer for season 3 of X-Men 97 is the guy in charge of What If https://deadline.com/2024/07/x-men-97-matthew-chauncey-writer-marvel-disney-plus-1236005273/ Season 2's scripts have already been written before the former dude got fired for undisclosed reasons People seem to think this is a fairly uninspiring pick
one-armed dwarf Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 After numerous reshoots here's the trailer for Cap America, and we see what Giancarlo was hired for. Weird trailer, looks sort of like an espionage film. Seems neat tbh. At least the first bit before it gets all CG looking edit I read comic book spoilers Spoiler President Harrison Ford (wow, typecast much) turns into the Red Hulk or something
Maf Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 Looks cool. Very much trying to capture that Winter Soldier vibe (Which is 10 years old now, fucking hell)
Nag Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 I am so far behind on these films... I doubt I'll ever fully catch up on them now.
one-armed dwarf Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 I mean this film in particular doesn't seem like something which requires much catching up on, looks like a fairly standard setup. Mysterious group organising a coup against the president, Captain America getting brought into being a sort of military apparatus. Standalone villain by the looks of it but you hardly see him at all in this trailer for some reason, I guess this is part of the reshoots It's more what you'd hope these films to be tbh, a pulpy mixup of comic and genre fiction. Or at least the kinda thing you'd hope they do more of instead of constant onboarding to event films for years, this is my own bias speaking I guess I actually think Deadpool looks like the more 'catchy uppy' film, as it's about the multiverse and jumping through portals and shit
Maryokutai Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 I also saw some Winter Soldier in there in the sense that at least the first half of the trailer looks comparatively grounded and the plot seems to be carried by intrigue rather than spectacle. WS is probably one of the Top 3 MCU movies for me so that's good news, at least as long as this is only similar in quality and not a straight copycat. I can't put my finger on why exactly but I found Harrison Ford weird in that role. Maybe he has simply too much iconographic baggage for me to just accept him as some MCU president, I dunno. Though evaluating that just from a trailer is obviously not a final judgment.

one-armed dwarf Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 Another trailer for Fuckpool versus Fuckverine. I saw some people say this one is spoilery and I don't want the smoke so imma spoiler it even if the idea of spoilering trailers of blockbusters is weird cause it's going to be impossible to avoid in the marketing push Spoiler
Maf Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 The trader is great. They should have put Jackman in the costume years ago. I know this is a thing that won’t matter to most but it gives me excitement how Marvel will do their own X-Men movie My only complaint, and I know it shouldn’t matter, Spoiler but the knowledge that this isn’t the ‘real’ Deadpool and Wolverine robs the film of some significance. It was sort of like when Thanos 2 appeared at the end of Endgame. Even though it is still that character on screen fighting. The knowing of, but you’re not the real one, robs it of significance. But still looks great either way.
OCH Posted July 19, 2024 Posted July 19, 2024 I'll be very interested to see how the villain is depicted in this. Considering she is very "out there" as a concept. Spoiler I'd love to see a reference to this in the film.
Maf Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 Deadpool 3 spoilers Spoiler He wears the fucking mask and it looks really good! Why did we wait so long to have this.
Nag Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 It hasn't reviewed quite aswell as I thought it would... unfortunately.
Maf Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 Currently got an 80 on RT https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/deadpool_and_wolverine I only read one review earlier today from IGN. They said most of the film takes place in a really bland CGI setting and it’s more of an expensive corporate in joke than a story. But they still gave it 7/10
one-armed dwarf Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 The review I read on indiewire made it sounds like the Alan Wake II of MCU, but in a way I would find really annoying. Robbie Collins on the Torygraph tore it to bits, and people on twitter are giving the Irish Times reviewer a hard time. I need a palate cleanser so I'll probably stick DP2 on at some point (which I have not seen), or Logan (which I have and is great). Not in any rush for this one tho
Maf Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 I’m not going to the cinema to see it. I’ll wait for D+
Nag Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 It won't stop me going to see it... hopefully a week Saturday.
Maf Posted July 25, 2024 Posted July 25, 2024 Fine @Nag I get the hint I’ll come with you so you don’t have to go on your own sheesh
