Guest Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 Metroid Prime 4 Dev Retro Studios Hires Battlefield, Tomb Raider And Borderlands Artists
Maryokutai Posted May 11, 2020 Posted May 11, 2020 Is this even the same studio that made Prime 1 back then? There's been so much fluctuation it's hard to keep track to be honest. I just hope 4 will be half or maybe even just a third as good as Metroid Prime. That'd still make it the best game of that year.
Guest Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 God Of War Dev Joins Retro Studios As Environment Designer For Metroid Prime 4 Quote Retro Studios has already signed some incredible talent to help it out with the development of Metroid Prime 4, and somehow it's still bringing in the big guns. In the latest update, it's been discovered the studio has hired Santa Monica senior game designer, Jon Marcella, as an environment designer for Metroid Prime 4. He most recently worked as a level designer on the PlayStation 4 hit God of War and has been with Retro since July 2020.
Maryokutai Posted September 24, 2020 Posted September 24, 2020 Not a bad thing, God of War had some Metroid-ish environments at some points. But damn, that game still seems a loooong way off.
Guest Posted October 31, 2020 Posted October 31, 2020 Retro Studios Is Remodelling Its HQ In 2021 To Aid Development Of Metroid Prime 4 This game is going to be a beast best experienced on switch 2 when it’s released in March 2022.
DisturbedSwan Posted February 18, 2022 Posted February 18, 2022 Hopefully some light at the end of the tunnel.
DANGERMAN Posted February 18, 2022 Posted February 18, 2022 It's taken them 5 years and all they've made is a twitter banner 😬 2
Maf Posted June 18, 2024 Posted June 18, 2024 To infinity! No doubt in my mind this is a cross gen game and going to be on Switch 2. Looks like has a very cinematic intro
Maryokutai Posted June 18, 2024 Posted June 18, 2024 Jesus that area at the end with the song (which I think is a remix of the Chozo/Luminoth theme from Echoes?) was fantastic. I guess this was Switch footage, at least the early part, but I also have no doubt this will be cross-gen. Looks wonderful, the slightly slimmer, more agile design of Samus' suit looks great, art direction is on point as always with Retro. Seems to be a tad more cinematic than the previous ones but technically Dread already paved the way in that regard. Finally something I'm genuinely excited about, this looks ace.
HandsomeDead Posted June 18, 2024 Posted June 18, 2024 I know the Prime 1 remaster looked really nice and ran at 60fps somehow but is this Switch footage? Wild if it is.
Maf Posted June 18, 2024 Posted June 18, 2024 It does look very switch-like. But then Switch games generally don’t have that many moving parts doing that much action at that steady of performance. Which is why I think that’s a cross gen title. If that is all Switch gameplay then they really are squeezing every last little bit out of the machine. Amazing when you think it’s not even as powerful as a PS4 and the games it has on it. I expect that cinematic action is the intro. New bad guy with Metroids turns up, attacks facility, Samus gets ass whooped and forgets how to Morph Ball. Boom then turns back in to Metroid Prime game
Maryokutai Posted June 18, 2024 Posted June 18, 2024 It reminds me a bit of Halo 4, which also punched way above its weight on 360 and was pre-build for the next generation. There's a lot of rough texture work in the area around where she cans the dead pirate, I'm pretty confident this is the Switch build. The bad guy isn't new btw., he was in Hunters (nobody blames you if you haven't played that though) and his ship was in Corruption's post credits scene. I hated almost everything about Hunters including his design because he looked like a Bionicle, but they did a decent job of upgrading it here IMO.
Maf Posted June 18, 2024 Posted June 18, 2024 I have played Hunters! I just didn’t play very much because the controls were so bad
HandsomeDead Posted June 18, 2024 Posted June 18, 2024 Yeah, I didn't recognise him at the time but I was reminded by a post that he's from Hunters and his ship follows Samus at the end of Prime 3. They're really picking up that 17 y/o thread.
