Where to start.

What it is. It is definitely an old school Rare esq 3D platformer. From the music to the grunty dialogue, the duo of characters and the cohorts you meet along the way, it's pertty much Banjo Kazooie 3 in all but name.

It's good from what I played so far but I know it will annoy people due to being the above. You can scale a height of platforms only to find you can't progress. Certain characters won't talk to you yet untill you do something later to unlock their progression. Everyone talks alot and makes bad jokes. You can see things you can't get to as you need to learn a move that comes later on and I think this kind of thing will piss people off. I love this kind of game, i'm on board, I knew what it was and that's what i want so im cool with all that shit.

What i'm not cool with is the shitty camera. It feels like they've brought that with them as part of the nostalgia. It's not game breakingly terrible by any means but, for example, the boss of world one is up a slope. He's chuckingshit down at you and you have to avoid it. For some reason they've loked the camera really low down so it's hard to judge when to jump. Also, the movement when you move up slopes using your slope run move is awful. It's realy fast and even when you press left or right you go up a little bit first. This is super fucking frustrating on his third attack pattern and I felt like I shouldn't be getting this pissed of with the game on the first boss.

It can also be hard to judge where platforms or collectibles are a la Banjo or Mario 64. They slightly deeper in to the background or more in to the forefront than you sometimes expect - extra annoying if that is a misplaced jump that sends you falling to your death or back to the beginning of a climb.

But but but, it's great platforming for the most part. The controls are slick, it's a beatiful colourful world and it's all very jolly. Littered with collectibles and tons of stuff to do, it seems certainly great value for your money. It's just weird I have the same beef with it that I did with the Nintendo 64's flagship game. I'm only a couple of hours in, watch this space I guess.

Just played half an hour of it there. I never owned a N64 so I can't compare this to Banjo Kazooie but it feels very reminiscent of Spyro, which I love.

Like the reviews have pointed out, the game has some rough edges like the dodgy camera and the terrible character voices, and the swimming is a bit ganky too. But none of these really outweigh the positives of the game like the colourful visuals, the excellent music...and the fact that it's an old school platformer. I enjoyed what I played. It's a nice change from the type of games I usually play on Steam.

Played a bit more there. The exploration and platforming in this game is fun but damn that first boss fight (The Great Rampo) is awful. It's annoying enough getting past his first and second stages by rolling around the logs but the third stage is just a wall of logs. It's possible to get through them by taking advantage of the game's invincibility after getting hit. When the first log hits you will fall but if you land on a log you can keep going while invincible and make it most of the way up the ramp, then you have to repeat the trick (which takes a bit of luck) to make it to the ledge below him, and even then hopping up on the ledge using the standard double jump seems to be totally hit and miss...

To cut a long story short, I didn't manage it using this approach. I youtubed how to beat him and lo and behold there is a jumping technique that the game doesn't explain to you, that allows you to jump high and over over the logs. That would have been nice to know.

I've played about 10 hours now. I'm still enjoying it alot.

I'm on World 3, just beaten the boss but each of the levels are only about half done in terms of Pagies collected. My strategy is do as much of a world as possible without a mass exploration then move on so I can learn as many new moves as possible. Then, when I've learnt all the moves I shall head back to World 1 and rinse the bastard with confidence that I can do any puzzle I stumble across.

The worlds are just massive. I honestly feel like I've had a pretty good look around World 1 and 2 and feel a little intimidated by how much I have missed. On top of this you can expand each world, opening new paths and greater heights. It's just huge.

Yooka-Laylee is getting something of a collector’s edition. Project Triforce has revealed a box of limited edition items for people who loved the game. The Yooka-Laylee Collector Boxie contains a number of items you would normally expect from a collector’s edition of a game. A few will be available for sale at the company’s 2017 New York Comic Con booth, with the official box debuting for $59.99 online in December 2017.

The Yooka-Laylee Collector Boxie bundle begins with a 10” statue of Yooka and Laylee. People also get laser-cut pins of Yooka, Laylee, and Capital B. A metal Quill keychain is in the box. Not to mention, five concept art cards people could display. Unfortunately, this bundle does not include a copy of the game.

Yooka-Laylee is available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. It will also be coming to the Nintendo Switch.

Seems like we don't have a news topic, so here we go:

Kind of came out of nowhere. I'll be honest I really didn't like the original. I think movement just felt awful all around, it was the GTA4 of platformers so to speak. Granted I only played it on Switch and maybe better framerates make it more bearable, but if they touch up that aspect for this I might give it another shot.
