Monster Hunter Stories 3DS

Ah, it's Monster Hunter for those cunts that can't play Monster Hunter because they're cack handed wankers.

If a more lite MH gets people playing the main game especially over here then whats the problem? I don't think it showed how the fighting/hunting worked, so it could be just as deep as the main game.

Looks cool to me. I'm interested.

I think it looks interesting, although theres fuck all to go on at the moment.

Ive got the same initial reactions as Sly, in that the point of this game is that its hard, arduous and sometimes, Like Dangeroo said, a bit shit. If they released a cartoony version of dark souls then people would probably get all upset. At the same time, there is fuck all to go on, and it still looks visually pretty cool. If this didnt have the Monster Hunter name to it then id say 'cool its like a 3D looking pokemon with swords' so...

Cool its like a 3D looking pokemon with swords.

Monster Hunter isn't hard Sly, it's just dull.

How far did you get? Because I think you're talking shite. Saying it's dull when you've only scraped the surface is like saying Mario Kart is dull when you've only played the first track on 50cc. I understand the game isn't for everyone, but to write it off completely is nonsense.

As for this game in particular, it might be alright. It has all the hallmarks of me not liking it though, JRPG stuff tends to bore me to tears no matter how it's wrapped up.

Coming to Europe 8th September

Quote

Monster Hunter Stories, the turn-based RPG spin-off of Capcom's popular action series, will make its western debut in Europe on 8th September.

A North American release is expected to follow later this year.

As the title suggests, Monster Hunter Stories is like Monster Hunter, but with a story. And turn-based combat. And cel-shaded graphics. In other words, it's not like Monster Hunter at all.

But it is set in the same universe, with all the familiar franchise creatures you know and love (and love to kill). You've got Jaggis, Ludroths, Bullfangos, and all the stylish weapons and armour harvested from the corpses of these beasts. This time out, you'll even be able to befriend certain monsters - which kind of complicates the whole slaying most of them thing. But hey, stories!

The next mainline Monster Hunter title is the recently announced Monster Hunter World, which arrives early next year on PS4, Xbox One and PC. There's also an expanded Switch version of Monster Hunter Generations in the works in Japan (under the name Monster Hunter XX), but that's not been announced for a western release.

That's the same month as Metroid.  Great.

Here's another trailer if you want:

This game is getting a port to modern platforms but it looks like the only way to get a physical copy is to buy the PS4 bundle of this and the sequel. I was looking forward to getting it on Switch but I guess will have to download? Comes out tomorrow

(I just checked and saw the 3DS version is £80 on Amazon. Lucky I still have a sealed copy)

Damn, this topic certainly had a different vibe.

Funnily enough I was looking into this yesterday as well and yeah, it seems only the collection has the first game as a physical version and for some reason they're only releasing the PS4 version of said collection in Europe. I ordered a copy from amazon US yesterday for Switch which is stupid, but it's my favourite 3DS game so I'll sin on carbon emissions for that.

Where you order from? I would be interested in getting a copy

EDIT: Oh wait, hang on. I can read, I swear

EDIT2: No, actually I might be dumb @Maryokutai did you order the collection from US or just the first game? I can only see the collection

As I said there's no physical solo release for Stories 1. You have to buy the collection if you want a physical version of that game (Stories 2 meanwhile is only included as a download voucher).

It's all a bit dumb really. You'd think Monster Hunter was a big enough IP for a normal release.
