Hendo
I know Mike has been playing this, I've only put 20 minutes in. It would be more as I like the concept of it but I'm constantly stuck, it seems so open that I have no idea where I'm going. I got as far as being asked to clean up a spill in the water (like an oil spill) which I found but have no idea how to clean it. I also found a magic gate that I don't know how to open and a few other paths that there's no way of telling which way I'm meant to go. I might need a guide to get me going as I love the concept and art style (it is Double Fine, after all) but I'm perpetually lost. It's a puzzle action game, kind of like Link to the Past viewpoint but your sword can hack into objects and enemies and you can change their values to make them non-aggressive or let bushes you burn give out tons of hearts. You can pretty much break the game by changing the values in your favour. Like there's a queen sprite in this cave that gives out extra hearts but only once. You use this item in your inventory to change the history of whether she gave you hearts or not and you can just churn out tons of energy for yourself. Sambob
That sounds like a really cool premise, just wikipedia'd it. I like how theyve thought about the way the game is build in order for this to work, thats an often unappreciated aspect of video gaming.
Craymen Edge
It can be quite tricky, you have to think differently about how you approach than you normally do in this sort of game. I quite like hacking enemies to do negative damage, so when they attack me I get healed or changing the faction of half of them so they fight each other. The bit you're talking about with the wall: there is a password in a chest nearby that the bad guy has crossed out and left a note telling people to stop writing passwords down. There are a couple of letters visible though, and you can see a change in the wall when you enter a correct letter, which lets you work out the rest of the password. I'm at a bit where I can go inside an object and see a series of machines that represent the internal logic, and I can change to move a platform or open a gate for example. It's a little brain bending. I think it could do with more in the way of hints sometimes, it's not always clear what to do next. I can see me needing a guide sometimes too, even if it's just for a pointer in the right direction. The 2d art is nice, and I've seen some funny lines of dialogue as you'd expect from Double Fine.
