A few charts showing which countries charted most. The USA (40%) had the lions share of the games voted for. Japan (21%) takes the second position while Great Britain (14%) comes 3rd. Canada misses out on a podium spot.

I know when people talk about vintage years in videogames, 2007 gets brought up a lot. However, it's 5 games behind the leader which is 2010. 2008, 2011 and 2012 also polled as superior years to 2007 as far as video games are concerned. I'm actually very surprised at this.

Agree with Spatular though, I assumed the bottom games were just a vote or two, but I know a couple of them got a few votes, so it'd be interesting to know how many votes each tier got. Looks like people have got similar tastes at least

I've always preferred Arkham Asylum over City. Arkham City is a fantastic game,but I've always preferred the structure of Asylum.

I think the only thing I'm kinda bummed about is the amount of games from more long running series'. All the mainline Gears, Halo, Mass Effect and Rock Band games for example (even both Mario Galaxy games). I suppose everyone has their preference but having a lot of slots taken up by those does make for a less interesting list.

I assumed joint 68th = 1 vote, 45th = 2 votes, etc. But looking at it again, it could be that nothing with just one vote got in, I'd have to check for a couple I nominated.

There would be fewer ties if we were a larger forum.

Bugger, I knew somewhere there'd be a mistake in in. The data probably got nudged or word wrapped and I didn't notice it until after you pointed it out.

Right, time to clear a few things up about what you guys are asking.

15 people voted.

111 games made it into the top 100 due to joint placing.

A game needed to get 2 votes to make the chart.

123 of the 234 games voted for didn't make the cut. Might put these up so you can see if anything got unfairly left out or forgotten about.

73% of you voted for the 1st placed games.

A few things that surprised me. One is that I need to pay more attention to where my games are coming from. Games that originate from countries I did not expect them to surprised me a lot, it's been a bit of an education for myself seeing where some of these games stem from.

One of the other things is that I'm totally knocked back by how many votes some games got over the others in the same series. When I was totalling everything up and seeing that the original L4D beating out the sequel, despite the sequel having everything that L4D had in it and more. I'm not just singling L4D out here, there's a few instances where I think people prefer the earlier installments of the games despite the latter instalments being better.

When I was compiling the lists it was clear Batman was going to win, it was miles out in front for the most until it was eventually caught up by Mass Effect 2.

All in all this took me about 10 or so hours to put together.

Do you guys think this list is better than the IGN one? I was going to put markers on the games indicating if we voted them higher or lower than them, but seeing as we had so many joint places there'd be loads of green arrows

Although I voted for L4D2, sometimes the first in a series might get the nod because it had a bigger impact. Thats why I put Bioshock on my list rather than Bioshock 2; or Arkham Assylum instead of Arkham City.

For a couple of games, I chose to include only one (or two) from a series I really liked just to allow for a bit of room for variety in my 40. I like to think of Mass Effec 3, Arkham City, Gears 3 and a few other great games I enjoyed but left out as joint #41 on my list.
