I'm going to be on Twitch playing Child of Light again in a minute. I think I'm up to chapter 7, no idea how long the game is, but that seems a fair bit in

Getting a lot of bad buffering. Turned Steam off which was updating games and still not much better.

How do you stream out of Steam? Or anything?

I think Sly should stream his backlog, especially the ones that do his tits in.

If people are serious about watching I'll do it. Unless it's a massive piss about. I don't like being pissed about.

I can't guarantee I'd be there whenever you'd stream but once you've set it up, you might as well stream anything you play anyhow.

I tried setting mine up and had no idea what I was doing and if it was going to work so gave up for the time being. I turned my mic off by default though, that would be annoying.

I had it streaming at the same time on another screen and I noticed that, not sure what was causing it, I noticed it the other day to, but the other night it was running fine. I'll knock the quality down and see if the smaller upload helps (though it knocks it down to 480p)

you can use https://www.xsplit.com/twitchtv/SignUp/ to stream, I might give that a go rather than my card uploader if it ends up running better

edit: seems like the buffering might just be a Twitch issue

just did a test with Batman Blackgate using XSplit. Xsplit tested my bandwidth and computer and said I could do 1080p, presumably it keeps checking, but either way that's above what I stream at using the Geforce tool, so I think it is an issue on Twitch's end. I don't know if pausing the stream to let Twitch buffer it for a while so you don't catch up would work? Reading around it seems like it's become a problem since they added a delay to streams, so it's holding back the stream to keep the delay

XSplit seems to work alright, it adds a watermark if you're streaming above 480. In fact it limits anything beyond bare minimum to either having a watermark or needing you to buy the full thing

I had a look at xsplit, am I right in thinking you buy it, but only for 3 month chucks? That's expensive if it works out like that, works out at about £70 a year depending on exchange rates.

Yeah, the free version is obviously free, the personal use one is $15 for 3 months and the premium is $25 for 3 months. You get a discount for buying 12 and 36 month leases on the license. I'm not down for that at all, if I'm buying software I'm buying it. Leasing is for mugs.

You can stream via the Raptr desktop client.

Or use Open Broadcaster which is free and open source

One more question? Does the streaming depend on your upload speed and does it use a lot of data? E.g. to stream one hour of footage.

to put it in perspective. I was streaming at 720p with a pretty high bitrate, and it was uploading at 2Mb a second. Even at 480p you're looking at probably 0.75Mbs depending on bitrate (if you can even change that)

So that would be astronomical data usage? Not feasible with a download limit?

I streamed some BF4 today. I've no idea how it turned out. Ed, you mentioned about getting your PS4 to auto tweet when you streamed, how do you go about this? I did a quick scan of the options but couldn't see anything.

I've sorted it. I'm going to start experimenting with recording so that if we have any 'battlefield moments' I can throw them on a USB and upload them to youtube.

I was watching on my iPad. The app itself works really well.

I didn't have any hitching or buffering problems this time and the audio seemed well balanced.
