I can’t remember the names of people I’ve worked or shared a flat with but I know that girl echidna is called Tikal and the robot is E-102 Gamma 

 

I know everyone likes to shit on Sonic Adventure but it was crazy when it came out. Voice acting, set pieces, 3D, Sonic and Knuckles fight, a new world, a new console. Was any of it good? Some of it. But more than that growing up and loving Sonic games this was premium excitement

I never got the feeling people were down on Sonic Adventure? For the longest time (until Generations basically) it was considered the best 3D Sonic, or at least on par with its sequel even if both of them have arguably aged extremely poorly. It's definitely one of those 'you had to be there' games nowadays for that reason – like a lot of stuff from the 90s, admittedly.

People really bag on Sonic Adventure a lot. Some of which is earned, for sure. But it was also really impressive in some respects, and had some really great levels. Especially in the Sonic story

I've wanted to make this video since 2009. I used to sit on my sofa, playing these levels over and over again, with my laptop next to me listening to music and by accident finding songs that fit with the gameplay. It's not quite a button perfect run, but everything lines up pretty much perfectly so it's fine 

 

I downloaded Sonic Unleashed Recompiled for highest quality, downloaded a 100% save file so maxed stats and access to everything, and used DaVinci software to put the music in. Pretty easy! but also basic. The software has a billion options and I used like, 4 of them lol 

 

I wouldn't say I cried trying to make this, but I could feel my throat getting tight and my face going red 

 

Bonus, the alternate version of this song (which arguably better, though not as long) has the lyric “When you leap without a net, you'll find, It won't be there all the time” but for years I thought the lyric was “When you reach and fall, don’t fret it’s fine - I’ll have your back every time”

 

So I put that in the description just because I like it, and how long have I been playing Sonic the Hedgehog games.

Nice, that's a cool video. And really clean run as well. Always liked the Crush40 stuff, really fit the tone of 3D Sonic.

 

(And on a side note, man, that Hedgehog engine was something else. People laugh at the visuals from that generation today but look at this thing.)

Everytime I try to do something with OBS I fuck the colour space up and end up with crushed blacks so kudos for actually figuring out what any of that shit means, I have a destroyed playthrough of RE4 on there where you can't see anything lol

I know I already asked a lot by doing this once, but I ended up sort of unhappy with the Sonic video. It was 90% what I wanted and my excitement to make it took over. But watching it an embarrassing amount of times there were so many things I wanted to be different
