Maryokutai
I don't think you'd need a bona fide villain in a Metroid movie. A looming, silent presence in the dark, like a Mother Brain or Metroid Prime that feels like an extension of the real antagonist – the deadly surroundings of whatever place Samus finds herself in – would be more in-line with the series' DNA. Something like SA-X could then be sequel hook, but would equally have to be handled with care. I watched some indie movie years and years ago that I forgot the name of. But it was basically some dude fighting its way through layers and layers of an alien world without any secondary characters and very limited monologue. It wasn't particularly good IMO, but not for its template but rather the execution. I think something like this would be excellent for Metroid if done well, but it would also be way too experimental for what I presume would need to be pitched as a mainstream thing to be greenlit. I think it would not be unreasonable for them to maybe test the waters for their ... 'lesser' IPs with a short-movie collection, like that Love, Death, Robots thing or even those Anime Star Wars productions. Just throw in Metroid, F-Zero, a Starfox puppet show and see how people react.

Maryokutai
In light of recent events, I might have to finally put these up: (And hope that the dude who made them is going to paint one for Beyond.)

Maryokutai
Just stumbled upon this: Never heard of that before, likely because it was a US/JP exclusive. Looking up some gameplay it seems like a very linear JRPG style affair (and I mean very linear, think FFXIII), with some splendid 3D visuals and a nice OST. Unfortunately it seems you have to pay 100$ and upwards for a complete copy these days.
one-armed dwarf
or maybe the secret to enjoying Dishonored is to play it like this Spoiler tfw you get killed by running into the bullet you just shot
Maf
Yeah, I’ve seen these Dishonored videos before, they’re really cool. It’s a shame there isn’t a game that made play like this for realistic for the average person, instead of having to devote 100’s of hours to one thing and take a million practice attempts to get it all right. Maf
Shit. I thought I had a good idea but someone beat me to it Not that I could make it, but still. I’m so dumb I never realised or thought about why the game is called Earthbound until near the end of the game

Maryokutai
Maybe this is widely known, but I just read the other day that the original Wipeout logo is written in a font where every letter is a cutout of the number '8'. Tiny mind blown moment.

Snaggletooth
This is great, and exactly what I wanted Nintendo to do with the switch years ago. Part of reason I sold mine wss inconvenience to me of its form factor. This would almostvtempt me to buy a new one to experiment.
