Bob Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 25 minutes? I take it your exaggerating? They time about 5 mins I thought? Maybe your really shit at them. Literally impossible. This unlocked after I completed a couple of them. Presumably a super triathlon for super guys. No exaggerating, I was sprinting constantly and had travelled from Sandy Shores to los santos.
Bob Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 I started the online section before it seemed to break completely and did a couple of missions. One mission involved me buying clothes which I started doing and was then interrupted when someone came in and shot the cashier, then stole my car. Then the game was nice enough to pair me with that same person for a mission robbing a store, I know this because he arrived in my car. Then as I was robbing the store they ran in and shot the registers before grabbing the cash and leaving me to deal with the attendant who and ran and got his gun at this point. I have been told several times already that the game is going to be putting all the 'bad sports' together to play on their own. So maybe it will be better when that happens. Or maybe there are enough ways to be a nuisance that don't involve being branded a bad sport to make the game no fun at all since had I retaliated either of these times it would have been me who was punished. Not that it is really an issue at the moment since it doesn't seem to work.
Sly Reflex Posted October 1, 2013 Posted October 1, 2013 I can imagine playing with friends alleviates all the dickheads that are taking the fun out of it right now. Unless your friends are dickheads, of course.
illdog Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 Im leaving the multiplayer alone for a while as I really want to 100% the single player. In doing so, I've been constantly awestruck by the work that has been put in to this game to make it a living, breathing island. I play sometimes and a voice in my head whispers "This is the best game ever made'.
Bob Posted October 5, 2013 Posted October 5, 2013 I sold this to my nephew. I was quite disappointed with the post game experience. Didn't really feel like there was a lot there for me to do outside of randomly guessing what was going to happen on the Bawsaq. Unless Rockstar do themed missions that effect the prices of things on there, I don't see it being much fun. As for the online, well, no thanks. I think I am pretty over playing online, regardless of the experience. It was never a serious contender for best game ever while I was playing it. It is definitely a great game though and assuming they do a couple of single player DLCs I will pick up the game of the year edition to do it all over again down the line.
Pikman Posted October 20, 2013 Posted October 20, 2013 I've not got this game but thought this sounded amazing, not sure if it was mentioned here before, sorry if this is a repeat http://www.computerandvideogames.com/430910/blog/gta-5-help-us-solve-the-games-big-hidden-conspiracy-potential-spoilers/
hinn888 Posted October 23, 2013 Posted October 23, 2013 So has anyone else not really cared for this? I've had it since launch but i'm still only 2% in, nothing really draws me into play it!
retroed Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I really enjoyed the campaign, but once I'd finished it I didn't really have any inclination to go back and finish the side stuff. I briefly tried the multiplayer but it isn't for me. Traded.
hinn888 Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Multiplayer is just a massive letdown, i'm gonna finish the campaign and trade it in i think, pick it up on pc years down the line.
hinn888 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Its only on this Gen at the moment, still worth something now, pick it up on steam when its like £3.
radiofloyd Posted December 7, 2013 Posted December 7, 2013 I'mma smack you over the head with my first impressions. I love it. Big surprise I know, but it's a relief how much closer this feels to San Andreas than GTA IV. Los Santos is beautiful. I've even been stopping at lights and driving in the correct lane. The writing is razor sharp, as you would expect from Rockstar. It's amazing how natural the dialogue is between Franklin and Lamar. Driving around Franklin's neighbourhood listening to Waylon Jennings sing "We've been the same way for years/We need to change" gave me a jolt back to similar sort of accidentally awe-inspiring moments with San Andreas. Of course, times have changed since San Andreas. It's possibly no harm that GTA IV has reined in my expectations for this series. I'll save my conclusions for when it's over. But I'm glad it's fun. Fun, bright, and full of colour and detail.
radiofloyd Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Making steady progress in this, just done the Life Invader mission as Michael. Also been doing a lot of fucking around. Played a very enjoyable set of tennis against some lawyer woman. I whupped her ass.
radiofloyd Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Have played the first couple of Trevor's missions in the desert, fucking hell. This game is huge. The story missions have all been great so far. I'm going to play through the story then just explore, Fallout 3 style.
radiofloyd Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Playing as Trevor I picked up some golfer dude and took him up to the cult in the mountains - the view on Mount Chiliad is amazing. I have the whole gang together in Los Santos now so I'll be cracking on with the story. Having three main characters has its pros and cons in terms of story I think. The first couple of missions involving Franklin and Lamar was a bit of a red herring because the game hasn't really focused on Franklin's background at all, which feels like a shame since the writing in those early missions was brilliant, but I guess Rockstar already did a gangsta rap GTA... Hopefully the story will start to gel more now that all the characters have been introduced. I can't remember Vice City and San Andreas but one niggle I had with GTA IV was the meaninglessness of money, which has already reared its head in GTA V with Franklin making over $100,000 from that first heist mission - a life-changing sum of money you would imagine but of course the game makes no reference to it at all. And now Franklin is living in a swanky condo in Vinewood but again it hasn't been reflected in the story. I guess it's a limitation of storytelling in games, especially one this ambitious. The radio seems weak as well. Definitely most of the channels on the left hand side seem rubbish. Mostly I've been listening to the country music channel and the defaul rap station, I think it's Radio Los Santos. Although one of the channels played West End Girls by Pet Shop Boys which was pretty awesome. Like GTA IV it seems like the highlights are the DJ dialogue and talk radio, but on early impressions you have to ask, is the music a highlight of GTA anymore?
radiofloyd Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Speaking of money, when Lester asked me to assassinate the Redwood jurors, I spent over $100,000 on Debonaire shares. Sold them off the next day at a $25,000 profit.
radiofloyd Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 buy shares with all 3 characters. Why didn't I think of that...
spatular Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 So how do you quit/restart a mission? I was following a truck, got rammed off the motorway. The internet says to die to restart, so how do I die easily? I went off a massive jump in a car and was fine.
illdog Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Isn't there a restart last mission option in the menus somewhere?
