Maf Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 EDIT: Uk time is 2pm and the Switch 2 direct is next week 1
Pikman Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 Daaaaaamn, I thought it was 3pm my time and I booked 30 mins out to watch it. I'm not free at 2pm, gah! I hate missing these live. Hard to resist looking online...
mfnick Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 I doubt you’ll miss much. Nothing major will be shown there when the Switch 2 direct is coming next week.
Maf Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 Yeah, I would think this will almost be entirely 3rd party. Maybe it ends on a Nintendo game coming to both Switch and Switch 2 this year but the second part is silent. I’d be surprised if there’s any heavy hitters. 1
Pikman Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 Wow, I guess you might all be totally right actually, nothing to be excited about
Maf Posted March 26, 2025 Posted March 26, 2025 Hopefully there’s cool games, it’s just hard to imagine there being anything crazy given the new console will have a proper reveal the following week

Though like the others have said I'm not expecting any big surprises here. It will probably feature Metroid Prime 4 in a big way though, as the presentation from next week will likely focus on Switch 2 exclusives to avoid confusion and show off the new system. Unfortunately Nintendo has a history of spoiling a lot of content in their Metroid marketing, but if nothing else it'll be good to finally have a release date (or window).

I think I can use the same link where it was live? (hope so!) Definitely interested to see what they are going to use 30 mins for.
Maf Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 I wish Metroid Prime 4 looked more exciting. The psychic powers seem like a really gimmicky layer on a game I’ve played 3 times already. Considering it’s been so many years since the last game, it doesn’t really look like it’s advanced at all However - More Dragon Quest!
Maf Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 MARVEL BEAT ‘EM UP LETS GOOOOOOO SPIRITUAL SUCCESSOR TO CAPTAIN AMERICA AND THE AVENGERS SICK
one-armed dwarf Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 Tbh skimming through this has me reconsidering Switch II, I've no interest in any of this. I don't want to play anymore remasters especially these 2HHD ones
Maf Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 The only 2 things I’m pumped for are Dragon Quest and Marvel Cosmic Invasion. Which tbh is more than I expected from this, anyway. But the rest looks very boring. Actually that PAC Man horror 2D game looks interesting, purely because what a ridiculous take on PAC Man. I’ll obviously play Metroid Prime 4, almost obligatory. But if this is their best idea even after they had to reset development in this game…I’d rather have another 2D Metroid tbh. It doesn’t look bad, but it looks extremely ordinary I also didn’t really understand their version of “Virtual Game Cards”? I get it’s a good commitment to people they can transfer their digital library across to Switch 2. But the way they’re dressing it up like a cool Nintendo feature when it’s 2025, you would expect to carry your digital games over to the next device anyway. Unless there’s some catch or cool feature regarding it, I didn’t really get it.
Pikman Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 That was actually decent! MP4 - looks like the first but with a new world to explore and new powers? I imagine this HAS to be on Switch 2 and must look a ton better. Virtual game cards are cool, it at least means we can share them in our household easily. I think it also means I could share with a friend and then can virtually return it when they are done?! I'm ready for more Rhythm Paradise and Everybody's Golf too!
mfnick Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 Hahaha that was even worse than I was expecting. The Marvel scrolling fighter could be good though.
Maf Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 What do you mean could be. It’s 9/10 already confirmed cemented guaranteed
DANGERMAN Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 I had the sound down for the virtual card stuff, what actually are they?
mfnick Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 That’s actually a cool feature. Don’t need it personally but know a couple of families that have more than 1 Switch (for the kids) and it basically lets them use the same digital game on 2 Switches. But you have to give up access on 1 while access is on the other. But without a physical copy that was impossible before. It also lets you borrow a digital game for 14 days if you’re on the same Nintendo online family plan. Good features. & far more generous than I ever thought Nintendo would be with digital games.
Maf Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 I was really surprised by the 2 week thing. I wonder if that part will work on Switch 2. Because theoretically someone could buy the new Mario, and someone else could easily beat it in 2 weeks, or even have their fill of it, before it being returned. I could see that cutting in to sales I think this Virtual Game thing will include Switch 2 so someone can transfer their library. But I would be surprised if that specific feature of sharing a game for 2 weeks carries over to Switch 2 Hopefully it does! But I dunno
retroed Posted March 27, 2025 Posted March 27, 2025 Rhythm Paradise and Everybody's Golf (which I'll probably get on the Deck)! 🥰
