Now press on year and it doesn't look so bad.

Shoddy reporting clickbate nonsense. It's down, it's not significant.

Not really, the report was about how it dropped after Nintendo's E3 showing, and the graph shows that.

Its not the end of the world, but you would certainly not expect your stock to drop 2 and a bit percent after something like E3, im fairly sure that you wont see that in any other MAJOR publisher. 2 and a bit percent is a fucking shit ton of money when you are talking about Nintendo's shares. Im pretty sure Shiggsy wont be sitting at his desk today going 'ah click on the year and it doesnt look too bad'.

To further expand on it, because you were so flippant about it, the fact that they have managed to have a good year so far and then drop the fucking ball so spectacularly at E3 is even more unforgivable. Just when you thought it was safe to go back in the water.

The E3 Direct was a disappointment, but I also don't think a drop in some shares is that big of a deal. The people selling off their shares are obviously the nervous type that sell on the slightest sign of trouble, if you can even call it trouble. They're fence sitters that want the quick returns.

As someone interested in games there were two conferences worse than Nintendo's... arguably another that just matched it.

We got confirmation some decent looking games are coming this year. There is a new Zelda that follows the surprisingly amazing Link Between Worlds. I bet this could be surprisingly amazing too.

It's a bad call to write off Nintendo as a business right now. They still have mobile plans to reveal, which could make silly money, and the fact that the heavy hitters are obviously being cooked for the NX. If they do have a port of the Zelda game as well as a new Mario and Metroid (which could easily be due at that time) then it could be a very strong launch for Nintendo.

So yeah. More fool those investors. They'll certainly be back.

there were 2 worse than Nintendo's?

I saw someone making the point on Gaf that had Nintendo not done a direct the other week (the trailers from which are on the previous page), and shown stuff at the Nintendo championships, and released a video about the Smash stuff, instead putting all that together in one big E3 video, it wouldn't have looked so bad

There's an element of truth about that. There still wasn't anything jaw dropping, but it would have at least looked busier

I thought Ubisoft's and Square's were much worse. Typical conference stuff with games that didn't interest me at all. I feel like I might as well as be watching a conference about tractors.

At least on Nintendo's there were confirmations of games I am at least a little interest in, and I really liked the segments where they talk about the creative process of game making. Showing how similar the original Mario level design process is similar to how Mario Maker works is kinda interesting; more so than some choreographed trailer for The Division.

A Direct by its very nature will always be more interesting than a conference.

Nintendo had a lot of fluff. I don't give a fuck that Starfox was inspired by some monument arches in Japan. I don't give a fuck about knitted Yoshis. I don't give a fuck about laying tracing paper over level designs because it was easier to edit. I do give a fuck about impressive new games though, not that I got any. Why should I care about making houses look nice in a new Animal Crossing thing, or why should I care there's an board game coming out? Why am I going to be interested in super weird niche Japanese things? Am I meant to be excited for new Amiibos that work in a game I couldn't care less about? And what's the deal with calling something Metroid Prime and then making it look like a knock off budget game that'd look right at home when XBLA first started and used to knock games out for 400MSP.

I really really like Nintendo, enough to physically get off my arse and go to events to play the latest stuff. They totally shattered my high expectations with their show though, it was wank. I wont be picking up anything they showed. For me it was a complete blowout. Even Starfox looked insipid. It's meant to be action packed, not a tablet waving sim. :(

The problem with Nintendo is they have had longer to develop for the Wii U than MS or Sony and yet they still fail to deliver something amazing for the gaming community. Star Fox yep is going to be great it always is, but I didn't spot any must have buy. Even an announcement of 3ds games on wii u or cube games on the virtual console would of made us all go wow!!

I'm not sure what they can do in the next Nintendo direct, a Metroid game or F-zero and (yes im saying this) less Amiibo and more games and not a £120 new controller!!
