I picked this up over the weekend, I'd heard it was really short so I figured it'd be a good thing to play before Bioshock came out. Either I play Crysis wrong or the talk of a 5 hour campaign was nonsense.

I don't really know what to say about it other than it feels exactly like Crysis 2 but is actually fairly different. Crysis 2 was a series of puzzle boxes to play about in, do puzzle box 3 to move on to 4. Crysis 3 has a better flow to it, the areas feel a bit more sprawling, and if you are locked in it justifies it a bit better. You're back in New York but it looks completely different, it's like you mixed the first games jungle with the seconds city. It also looks and runs better than Crysis 2, at least in areas where there isn't lots of flowing grass.

Enemies are still a bit too eagle eyed for my liking, I still feel hugely reliant on the stealth suit skill, which means I'm slowly luring people to their deaths. the bow is pretty good but there's not a lot of ammo for it. I wish they encouraged verticality a bit more, the game is way less flat than Crysis and Crysis 2, but it's rare you can actually climb any of the structures.

And they still haven't explained what happened to Nomad at the end of the first game, in fact that you're playing as Prophet again confused me for a while, I think I might vaguely remember what happened there though.

I doubt there's going to be a lot of takeup for this on here, but it's a decent game

I finished this last night, the people complaining that it was a 5 hour campaign before they'd played it need to have a word with themselves, it took me twice that. I think I could have gone faster, early on at least. It took me a while to realise/remember that just because you get spotted it's not the end of the world, rather than trying for full stealth I could just have killed someone, cloaked, killed someone, cloaked. Using the bow and staying permanently cloaked was too tempting

Overall I think it's a decent game, it flows better than the 2nd, and there's a few really interesting bits, and maybe this is because of the drawn out way I played it, but I was ready for it to end way before it did. The last boss is awful though, one of the worst bosses I've faced outside of Borderlands in recent memory, it's a shame they felt the need to include one really. That said what they do after that is a decent ending to the trilogy, especially if they never get to make another

The story is shit, but then the story stopped making sense at the end of the first game. What I think will be underrated about the game though is the characters, considering he spawned from a one dimensional archetype, Psycho (or Michael) is a brilliant character, one of the few examples I an think of where graphical fidelity has really brought something to a character

I've been playing through this again over the past week, it's still a decent game. It trails off a lot towards the end when you're dealing with the Seph. It starts off with relatively large confined areas where you can make use of the suit powers to take down the CELL guards (the human soldiers), there's multiple ways in to bases, plenty of opportunity to blitz people, even switch tactics and use your power armour to stand and fight once you've stealthed your way through a bunch of enemies.

The final few hours it throws a few different gameplay mechanics at you, I think trying to recapture the tank and plane sections from the first game. They're ok, the flying section is pretty good, but it adds to the final sections feeling a bit too drawn out. There's a section where you have to take down the Seph anti-artillery, only it's not just one, it's never just one, it's 3, it's always 3, this section is compounded because there's huge areas of land between locations. You're really supposed to drive there, but there's high powered enemies, mines, things that make you get out of the car, assuming you find a car anyway.

It's still a fun game, but I preferred the earlier sections, I'm not sure if I'd turned it off before finishing it today I'd have gone back
