Sly Reflex
Well, that was pretty tense. I thought we were all done for when we had our route out cut off by that teleporting elite. EDIT: I took a snap of when Wholehole died and we we're waiting for him to get back us on what he was going to do. You wont see that character used by Craymen as it was KIA a bit later on. It's a lot harder than we were all expecting.
Craymen Edge
That was fun, but it hurts when you lose a character and have to start again. We were just getting into our stride and starting to kick serious arse when everything went wrong with those big guys and that teleporting fucker in the corridor. Sly Reflex
Yeah, I found a place to run, but it was full of enemies. I might have shouted "Oh fuck!" at my monitor. That art didn't help that it was behind a load of scenery either. Watching what red and blue silhouettes are doing is a lot harder to gauge than what solid entities are. wholehole
We had a good thing going for a while there, then we hit that temple. One second I was running to hit some enemies, the next I was dead. You get complacent for even a split second and it all goes wrong. Bit of a wake up call, that was. It's not easy to get back into it after dying even at low level. I was having to hit and run and let you and Craymen do most of the work. Not getting any loot of a usable level wasn't really helping matters either. As Craymen said, I'll also try and get my Engineer back up to a similar level before we play again. Might be asking a bit much for you to take on everything Sly
Sly Reflex
I'm as hit and run as you man. When you get hit you can lose everything, hence me getting the fuck out of there when I feel in danger. I think it's all something we should practice, It's OK losing a toon here and there now, but in 5 or 10 levels time, well, it's going to really fuck us up. We should probably practice kiting elite enemies into areas we can handle them a little better. It's fucking suicide going for them when they are surrounded with normal mobs Next time we play, Craymen should host. If he rerolls his world all the loot chests will respawn as well as all the enemies. They might give us a little bit of an XP nudge too, every dungeon we went into tonight were were under level for. It might start throwing some cool loot out that you two can use. I really like the feeling that you could lose everything at any encounter. It's risky. A bit like having a wank at work. Sly Reflex
I can play tonight. I don't know about the others though. I don't think I'll be playing tomorrow as the new Borderlands 2 DLC is due to drop.
Sly Reflex
I played some of my Berserker tonight. It bugs me a little bit that you have to select to play on LAN to reset the mobs and chests. I wanted to go back in and see how I'd fair against one of the bosses (who I cannot for the fuck of me remember what his name is) after I'd juggled my stats a bit. I went from having to hit and run him the first time to just standing there and using his bollocks as a punching bag. He was running away from me which I thought was pretty amusing, seeing as he chased me all over the shop before. I think that certain bosses and elites have certain sets and oranges. The stuff I killed dropped the same rarity of loots so it might be worth resetting the worlds when we play our hardcore toons and go and replay bosses. I got two orange claws out of it and they are tearing shit up. I turned a load of my embers in at the tranmuter to try and get Blood Embers. My thinking behind this is that having armours resistant to whatever elements you have is foolish. It only really works against that sort of damage and it's problematic in a way that you can never tell what you need to gear for. If you gear towards surviving fire damage other shit will still get you, whereas if you stack everything into blood embers you are either A: Adding a lot of health to yourself, B: Making it so that the damage you receive is offset by the regenerating health and C: Making it so that whenever you attack you are feeding HP straight from their health pool into yours. For classes that are up close and personal I believe this is the way to go, although I'm not sure if the passive works out better than the life leech on the weapons. I've not tried it because my Engineer is tied into playing with Radiofloyd and I don't wan't to fuck it up by racing miles in front level wise. I do think it all comes down to how fast you can hit. Obviously something which hits twice a second is getting more bites of the cherry than say a great axe which only hits once per 1.75 seconds. It's something you might want to consider Wholehole, it pushes your survivability right up. The other choice is using Iron Embers, you can get damage reflected, do more physical damage or just add stupid amounts or armour to your total. I've not really experimented with that, but I think it'd make you really tank like if you spent enough time collecting them. If you socket all your items and have a spread between Iron Embers and Blood Embers you should in theory be able to weather the biggest hits. The Embermage and Outlander need to look at Void Embers, although i've not really had a play with those yet. These build your mana up in various ways. I'd need to experiment with it, but I'm not really having any luck getting my hands on Void Embers. I need to start an Embermage and have a play about with it. I do think it's pretty pointless stacking lots of health regen into these characters as they are not really meant to go toe to e, the only hits they should recieve are ranged ones, even then if you are quick you can avoid projectiles. While I was looking into this transmuting thing I noticed that the Embers come in different sizes and levels. If you put all the same level Embers in you get the same level out, but if you put embers in that are all over the place you could literally get anything in between. I'd personally match up Embers in size and level before transmuting. Just put all the crap in that you will not use and hope you get something nice. that you can use It's a fucking deep game this. They've finely crafted the layers so that you could get obsessively into it if you wanted to. Of course, you could just run around hitting stuff, but where's the fun in that? wholehole
I was planning on using a variety of Blood and Iron embers once I can get my hands on some, also need to find a decent 1H to go with the shield I'm babysitting. Of course, I need to level up again before any of that is possible. The only thing that's miffing me a bit with the multiplayer is that if I'm building a tank character the game gives me no way (not even sure the game is coded this way) to take agro from squishier classes. As a melee class It's a bit annoying when you're trying to hit something that's running away from you. I suppose that comes from playing WoW for so long, I'm trying to transplant theories and styles onto a different type of game and it's not making sense. Craymen Edge
I played a very tentative hour or so last night, making sure not to get swamped or squished. I was putting most of my points into Focus and Dexterity with my deceased Embermages, this time I'm going to save a few to put into Vitality too, so if I do get in trouble I can stay alive long enough to get to safety. Craymen Edge
I played a bit yesterday, just doing the map sidequests/dungeons up to the entrance to the Wellspring Temple. I nearly bit the dust once, but otherwise it went surprisingly smoothly, I ended at around lvl12.
wholehole
Was trying to catch up a bit and ended up getting boxed in and pretty much one shot by one of the purple enemies. Didn't even have time to run away or wait for a health potion to tick. Think I'm done with Hardcore tbh, it sucks the fun from the game with the cost of death constantly hanging over your head. It's too unpredictable for my liking and I really can't be bothered levelling another character through the same stuff again

I'm enjoying playing Veteran Hardcode in solo mode, but I think it might be a bit impractical for multi.
radiofloyd
Did a good chunk of Act III there with Sly, level 39 now. Didn't get much new loot on that run though. All the areas seem to be bigger now. When your internet starts acting up and people get separated and loading screens seem to go on forever, it can get quite frustrating. Hendo
This is half price this weekend, I'll probably pick it up. Is there controller support? I enjoyed the first one on XBLA with a pad.
Sly Reflex
No controller support. Not that it needs it, it's the sort of game that plays better with a mouse and keyboard.
Hendo
Started a male engineer using a bad-ass shotgun and a fearsome badger. Got to about level 7 so not that far in. I like it but may have picked the wrong difficulty in Normal as (like the first game) there is a tendency to feel there's no challenge. Meant to be doing co-op later so might pick another character and difficulty level. Any recommendations?
Hendo
Found the body of Chester Copperpot and then defeated One-Eyed Willy. Bravo, Runic. Bravo. I'm guessing I'm on Chapter 2 as I've just had a short cut-scene before I quit out for the night.
