Monitor for PC-in' and Console-in'

Do any of you guys use the same monitor for both your PC and console requirements?

I was looking at actual monitors with HDMI inputs for the use of both PC and consoles but then realised they don't have any internal speakers. Considering the console use will be more a convenience thing than a permanent fixture, adding an external sound system just for the console is not an option. Because of this it looks like i'll need to go down the TV route but I know some TV's don't perform very well at being a PC monitor.

I'm looking at 22" - 24", around the £150 range. Been having a look at a few on Amazon but there's so many on there I thought i'd go fishing for recommendations first.

Yeah I use a pc monitor for both, but like you say I have external speakers. The monitor does have a headphone socket for the hdmi sound though which is pretty good, so as you say it's temporary that might be enough? So you might find some with a headphone socket but I'm not much help as mine is 4 years or so old now so they won't be selling it anymore. Good luck!

Hmm, never thought about a headphone socket for the HDMI audio. I'll have a closer look at some of the specs for the monitors I've been looking at see if any of them has one.

What about getting a headset that plugs directly into the 360? I use one for all my night gaming. I know it's not a perfect solution but I'm just throwing it out there.

just had a quick look at some monitors, looking for a more recent version of mine to see if it had a headphone socket, and the first one didn't have a headphone socket...but oddly has speakers! not a clue if its any good mind.

Spatular I'll have to owe you a beer dude, that's exactly what I was looking for. Fantastic price considering it's larger than I've been looking at, that'll save me around £50.

I've been looking at Samsung and LG as they're the brands I usually stick with, other brands didn't even cross my mind. Doh!

I've been reading a lot of reviews and checking the specs out. It certainly sounds alright on paper and a few reviews have said it's good for gaming on both PC and consoles.

There's a few negatives that have been mentioned and some discussion on how good the color is. Considering the price I'm expecting a few flaws but it looks like it should be good overall. I suppose the bonus is that I have nothing to compare it too as it's not a replacement, so hopefully it'll look awesome to me regardless!

I think monitors look less vibrant for gaming regardless unfortunately, they just dont have the power output of a tv. That said I used a monitor for hd gaming for a few years and it was fine, things certainly look better on a big tv, but it's not a bad way to play
