Sambob, i'd follow the main quests until after the Everfall (if you haven't been already) then strike out on your own abit.... and get rid if the high level Pawn its probably giving you a warped view of what you can handle, my first time through i never went more than 5 levels more than my character.

Monkey.... is it your first time buying the game?, if it is even 20/25 quid is a good price.

Don't wait for tutorials... there aren't any really. Muck about with skills and such, you can change vocations at any time and mix and match augmentations between classes.

A recent patch to Dragon's Dogma, Capcom's fantasy themed role-playing game, is corrupting save files, and Capcom urged players to back up their data in a post on Capcom-Unity today.

The corruption stems from a recent title update and affects both Dragon's Dogma and the recently released Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen expansion.

"To prevent the possibility of permanent loss of your data," Capcom's community liaison GregaMan wrote, "please copy your existing save data (whether it be [Dragon's Dogma] or [Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen) to an external storage device or cloud whenever possible — especially if you are picking up the game for the first time in awhile or switching over to Dark Arisen for the first time."

GregaMan also suggests playing the game offline as the company investigates the bug, for which it hopes "to have a solution as quickly as possible."

  • 2 weeks later...

I am having a problem at the money that I didnt have with the original game and I am wondering if those that have played it are suffering from the same thing.

Here is dat problemo. As I am running round cities it takes a while for people to actually load in. Including quest markers so I know I have missed a couple of quests since I am level 35ish and still haven't been introduced to the black cat. Generally as I run about I am alone except for a few pawns and guards. If I want people to load in I have to stroll about. Even the guy at the inn takes a few seconds to load in when I go in. Anyone else having this problem? The original game was fine.

oh,

I thought that's just how the game was! the number of times I've been sprinting through town, then some random pops into existence right in front of me... oof!!

I'm enjoying the shit out of this game, and as for it being a time sink, I'm finding it quite easy to drop in a half hour of gameplay, then drop it back down again.

I've been advised that the new content is massively difficult, even for people who have played through the game a few times.

I finished this today, well, the main game. Thanks to Nag for his wizardly companion although thanks to my Internet being down all day I rather think all the rift crystals I attained in the last section just went to waste.

Overall I really enjoyed it but i would say a lot of the difficulty came from poor AI rather than any genuine challenge most of the time. The mages especially have the ability to do huge damage to enemies but often refuse to do so. Sometimes I have been fighting a Cyclops and had to chip away at it with a hammer or sword, apparently by myself. While other times I haven't even had the chance to scale it before a mage has ripped off some awesome spell and killed it in one go. If the AI had been that aggressive all the time then it would have been a lot less frustrating. Add to this the way the like to fall off ledges to their deaths every now and then and generally doing the most useless thing whenever possible and the result is many swears.

There are lots of things like this throughout the game where I thought to myself, this would be awesome but.... Like the crafting for example, why not have a list of known recipes to choose from so you don't have to trawl through everything each time? Why do so many of the side quests not only lack markers on where you should go but also time out at what feels like random? The plot was really interesting, especially later on with some of the twists which I never expected but it is told so poorly that it is hard to care. Escort quests.

I am being very negative. The fact I have gone straight back on the second play through should tell anyone that I am enjoying it. It Is just so frustrating to see all these ideas that could make the game really special and then fuck it up with stupid ideas that feel like they are put in there just to annoy the player.

I think that is a very old school Japanese way of designing games. Make things as obscure or difficult to achieve as possible. It also has all that awesome Japanese style as well so it lets you jump on a Dragon and beat the shit out o it which saves the whole thing.

So to sum up for the TL:DR people. Awesome but let down by a lot of frustrating design choices. Also posting from my phone so if there are any hilarious or confusing typos then I apologise.

Agree with a lot of what you've said there, Bob

Glad Tika worked out for you, been using you're pawn since she was around the late twenties... it's been fun watching how you've developed her and how she's grown, she's also one of the more interesting pawns in the rift.

I've just started a new game plus after getting my arse handed to me by a GoreCyclopse in the dlc... well actually it was my pawns getting their arses kicked and me getting mine kicked while trying to revive them. :(

I am quite pleased with the way my pawn looks. Some random ingrate gave her one star for appearance. I was horribly offended. I was messing about with her class earlier so you may have ended up with a version of her that had the wrong skills. She is all back to normal now though.

Tempted to go and try the add on content but I'm pretty sure I am too weak and I feel like I missed out on quite a few quests the first time round so I reckon there is plenty for me to see on a second play through. Going to be dipping in and out of the wiki for the game which seems decent although horribly written.

I do find something about the game very compelling. I have a few other games to play but can't seem to drag myself away from this.

Fast travel opens up quite abit in new game plus so it doesn't seem such a ballache getting where you want to be.

Think i was around level 50/55 when i tried pushing through the dlc... waaaay underpowered.

My aim is now to dragonforge everything my pawn uses, which means i have to become a Sorcerer for awhile, should be interesting.

Question. How on earth do I gain acces to Madaleine's shop? I see there is an achievement there and when I look at the wiki it just says that she is standing in her shop. She bloody isn't she is wandering round the streets making jokes about cocks. I am standing where her shop should be and she is not there.

Just been to see the duke. Needing to do that quest would make sense since she never set up shop on my first play though and I never had any interactions with Mason outside of him being disappointed in me.

I named my pawn derpy, which seems to be a fitting name. running off cliffs, standing in front of boss creatures, spending ages healing me when I've only lost a sliver of health, but letting be run around with my heath flashing red while they walk in circles taking in the scenery.

How do you rate people? I've seen no way of doing this.

also, going out at night is a bad idea :(
