Maf
EE are selling the 30th anniversary controller https://store.ee.co.uk/products/sony-ps5-dualsense-30th-anniversary-limited-edition-1000046926-HWV4.html?referrerid=ZA00&utm_source=awin&utm_medium=affiliates&utm_content=ZA00&awc=3043_1727955146_99162e733b348acf98a6550909dd9b89
Maf
PS5 Pro pre-orders are now live on places like Amazon and I can’t lie I keep looking at it Argos had the 30th anniversary all-digital slim model today for £400 and I tried to get it (I was looking at the Pro) but they didn’t have them in my area. What a stupid fucking practice that you can order something online but only if you live close to it. Muthafucka that’s a shop

Esp. when unlike Argos, those Home Shopping Catalogues didn't have bricks & mortar stores and a High Street presence to cling on to.
Sly Reflex
Getting flashbacks to when I ordered God of War from them. Probably one of the worst experiences I've had with anything when it comes to shopping online. The irony being I never even played the fucking game. And I just bought it again as well. I never learn. Snaggletooth
Yeah, they had such a missed opportunity, their stupudity of clinging on to a local store system online along with Currys has inevitably hurt them. They could have been massive.

They're basically Amazon for when you're not going to be in but can pick it up on the way home
shinymcshine
I acknowledge it's not an Argos thread, but looks like they've messed up on their PS5 30th Anniversary Edition pre-orders and have had to start cancelling some.....! https://metro.co.uk/2024/10/15/argos-confirms-cancelling-ps5-30th-anniversary-edition-uk-orders-21796911/
DisturbedSwan
Argos are basically Sainsbury’s Direct at this point, I do quite like them to be honest. Although the last time I pre ordered a game from them they tried to tell me it wasn’t out on that day and refused to sell it to me thinking I was trying to pull the wool over their eyes. But yeah, house stuff, general stuff you don’t want to wait a day to get from Amazon I pick up from there.
Nag
Their Argos card is actually quite helpful too if you don't feel like whacking stuff on a CC.
Maf
This is an interesting note. I guess this week is the week we find out what boost mode really does
Maf
I wonder what Sony’s game plan is releasing a disc drive-less Pro this week and not getting disc drive stock out to retailer who are all sold out On the PS5 Pro box they even have this Like this is a good thing. Tin foil hat but I feel like this is Sony underhandedly trying to push people going digital

Maf
But this strategy of purposely not having disc drives available the same week the Pro comes out. Conspiracy?!
one-armed dwarf
Yeah there's no tin foil hat to this, these companies absolutely would prefer to get rid of physical media and call it an advantage. It's much better for them like that
Maf
For the record I’m not saying something really basic like “does Sony want people to go digital? What I’m saying is specifically this shortage of disc drives the week the Pro is out is artificial to make people go digital. It seems very suspect to me. But also could be paranoid;
Nag
Scalpers aren't helping... and they're artificially driving up demand.
Maryokutai
Disc-free console is pretty much in the same ballpark as adorably all-digital. What I find more questionable is that consumers are buying into it and relishing less options as a superior choice.
