Sony Consoles and Updates

I bought Metro just before Christmas and have still barely played it. I was fine with it coming free on Plus because I thought to myself. Well, I bought the season pass for a fiver when it was on sale so that is a plus. That is on sale for £3 as well. FML. FML hard. Though to be fair, I mainly got Plus for the Vita stuff and so I had a few games to play when I buy a PS4.

I can't remember if I've said it here on MFGamers, but I'll just do a brief summary if I have not.

Sony are fucked and they need to turn things around, making these amounts of losses over the years they've been making them is not acceptable or sustainable. Japan as a whole is being schooled by South Korea in the electronics market and if it continues to happen Sony won't be around in future as we know them now. As a gaming company such a small fraction of the company is tied up with that that any losses are not even pocket lint, never mind small change. The biggest drops and losses go towards the music, tv and cellphone part of the business. That's where Sony will break if/when it does.

But that story is basically how Sony are going about cutting their losses and indeed turning things around.

If you just look at the graph they are making more profit in Financial Services, Music, Cameras and although still losing money, they are drastically reducing their losses in TV and Audio and Phones and PCs.

Theyve made a fair bit less in chips and components, but they have just made a lot of new tech, a time when you typically would expect to go from making money on that to losing money on it. Films are down too, but theyve also got a lot in the works for that, with the way things are shaping up for a big string of Spider-Man cross over movies that, like them or not, are going to make them some money.

Completely agree with how they are being outdone in almost every way by the big Korean firms, thats really what they should be worried about, but again thats the kind of thing that can completely turn around, we've seen it happen before.

It's year on year on year they've been making these types of losses. You don't go from a AAA credit rating to Junk for no reason. It doesn't really matter which parts of the company do good or bad because Sony is a corporation and any type of failure reacts badly, actions like cutting loose divisions being the equivalent of giving up instead of looking what the problem is and mending it.

My hunch was right, PS+ is getting the Puppeteer. :)

30th April: Stick it to the Man (PS4)

30th April: Payday 2 (PS3)

30th April: Puppeteer (PS3)

30th April: Muramasa Rebirth (Vita)

30th April: Everybody's Golf (Vita)

That's a nice looking lineup, me thinks. Puppeteer I already have but I might trade it in now since I can finish it off with that PS+ download if I feel like it. I got pretty far in but I felt like I was dragging myself the whole time. And Payday 2 is something I've been real interested in giving a go.

Muramasa is an interesting choice because I dug the Wii version out a while back with the intention of finishing it with the character I've yet to do it with but I might give that Vita version a go, what with the extra content and stuff.

Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty will cost $29.99 / €24.99 / £19.99 when it launches on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PS Vita, Oddworld Inhabitants announced.

It will be a cross-buy release, meaning if you buy it on one PlayStation platform, you’ll also get it across the rest. It will support cross saves, as well, meaning you can take your progress from PlayStation 3 to PlayStation 4 to PS Vita.

As far as the release date goes, it’s not quite ready to be announced yet, but it’s planned on being announced before E3 begins in June.

News regarding Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty‘s release across other announced platforms, including Wii U, PC, Mac, and Linux, will follow in “due course.”

Two games per platform next month! And I don't already have any of them for a change. Copied and pasted from PS blog, ignore the leaving date.

Leaving PS Plus:

30th April: Stick it to the Man

30th April: Payday 2

30th April: Brothers A Tale of Two Sons

30th April: Muramasa Rebirth

30th April: Everybodys Golf

Entering PS Plus:

4th June: Pixeljunk Shooter Ultimate (Cross Buy) PS4

4th June: Trine 2: The Complete Story PS4

4th June: NBA 2K14 PS3

4th June: Lone Survivor (Cross Buy) PS3

4th June: Dragons Crown Vita

4th June: Surge Deluxe Vita

Lone Survivor and Shooter Ultimate both cross-buy as well, so an extra bonus for Vita owners?

Get PS+ as soon as you can, then go on the Web store and 'buy' them. They'll be in your download history then, you don't have to download them right away, or even have the Vita yet. Same goes for the PS3 and PS4 titles.
