New Super Mario Bros. 2 Will Cost £39.99 to Download

It's been confirmed by Nintendo UK today that New Super Mario Bros. 2 will cost £39.99 to download when it hits the eShop later this week. As Nintendo's first foray into selling full retail games via its eShop, it's understandable that they have opted to stick to the recommended retail price (RRP) to test the waters. But when Amazon UK will ship the boxed copy for only £29.97, are you happy spending an extra £10 for the convenience of not swapping game carts?

On Friday you will also be able to download the more modestly priced Freakyforms Deluxe: Your Creations, Alive! for £24.99 and New Art Academy for £29.99 from the eShop.

I was thinking of going digital for this, but am not paying ten quid extra for the privilege. Oh well.

Debut trailer for Shin Megami Tensei IV:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2012-08-28-shin-megami-tensei-4-debut-trailer-released

The last direct line SMT game was Lucifer's Call on the PS2, if any of you played that.

My sole experience of the SMT universe so far is Persona 4, a game i intend to get back to soon... I played a couple of hours of Strange Journey on the DS which seemed enjoyable enough (and probably massive) but i'd rather play Persona.

Majora's Mask following Ocarina on to 3DS?

The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask has already been rumoured for a handheld 3DS makeover, and now Game.co.uk appears to have confirmed the rumours listing - then deleting - the game on 3DS.

The listing (below) was spotted by NintendoLife, which notes that the platform holder also has a Nintendo Direct presentation incoming later today - will that hold the official announcement?

Nintendo is widely expected to reveal the US price and launch date of Wii U at a New York-based event on 13 September.

Lame. I want a new Zelda.

Nintendo had a presentation recently and I'll just post up some things shown.

New and last Professor Layton.

This morning's Nintendo Direct presentation brought about an announcement for a new 3DS Professor Layton title, which Siliconera has translated as Professor Layton and the Legacy of the Super Civilization A. Level-5's Akihiro Hino showed off some of the title with new visuals, which seem to point to a snowy world. This new Layton title is set to arrive in 2013 in Japan.

Hino also said that this title will be Layton's last adventure. Hey, now. Don't cry.

Oh noes?

Pokemon developer's new eShop game

During this morning's Nintendo Direct presentation, a new game from Game Freak, the folks behind Pokemon, was announced. Rhythm Hunter Harmo Knight is a mix between rhythm gaming and platforming. Jumps and attacks in stages will create good harmony with correct timing, according to Andriasang. The game footage (above) shows a fun art style and some note-bashing. Right up my alley.

The release is set for September 5 in Japan, priced at an inexpensive 1,800 yen (about $20).

I'm not sure on the looks, but a Runner style rhythmic platformer sounds great to me... though I am wishing one day they'll make a Drill Dozer sequel.

And some bonus info:

New Animal Crossing hits Japan on November 8th

This morning's Nintendo Direct presentation revealed the release date for the next Animal Crossing game for the 3DS. Tobidase Animal Crossing will hit shelves in Japan on November 8, priced at 4,800 yen. They promises a Nintendo Direct broadcast especially for this game closer to its release date.

I'm sure that the U.S. and Europe are going to come in sometime early next year.

I sometimes think about booting up the DS version and cleaning my town up and having another go at paying off my house... which of course I never will, not with Tom Crook and his loans.

Is Animal Crossing still a thing to be excited about?

Ace Attorney 5 confirmed for 3DS:

Tokyo Game Show attendees will get an early chance at playing Ace Attorney 5, as Famitsu reveals this week that the game will be playable at the event later this month. Capcom has prepared a fifteen minute demo, and will even reward those who line up with a special strap as a gift.

As we reported earlier, Famitsu confirms Ace Attorney 5 as a 3DS title featuring Phoenix Wright as the main character. The magazine also introduces a mysterious girl who wears yellow. She's a key person in the game, and will be properly introduced at Tokyo Game Show.

Ace Attorney 5 is set one year after the events of Ace Attorney 4 and sees Phoenix Wright return to being a lawyer. The game's first chapter involves an explosion at the courthouse. The charged is a high school girl named Shinobu. She's very week and can go into spasms at any moment. In the courtroom, Wright will face off against Winston Payne's brother.

Famitsu has just three screenshots, but they hint at some new gameplay systems. Like Layton vs Ace Attorney, the game will have fully 3D characters. It appears that you'll be able to select to give certain facial expressions during testimony, as there are facial expression icons on the lower screen.

Based off the reports we're reading from people who get Famitsu in advance, Shu Takumi is not fully involved with Ace Attorney 5, as he's busy on Layton vs Ace Attorney. The magazine lists Motohide Eshiro as producer, Takeshi Yamazaki as scenario director, and Noriyuki Iwadare on music.

KOKUGA from G.Rev, it's a retail title, and who knows if/when it'll even come over here, but it's of note because it's by the creator/director of Ikaruga

The weapon choice mechanic looks pretty interesting, can't say the rest of it had me messing myself, but if reviews are good then I might well pick it up

I might separate this in to its own thread when this supposed scan turns up, but Dragon Quest 7 is coming to 3DS in Japan next February. I assume that means end of next year for a UK release, which in turn means I'll get 6 finished around then, buy 7, then not get around to playing it for 2 years
