Hendo Posted May 25, 2011 Posted May 25, 2011 I'm not reading any spoilers until I'm past the sections mentioned or finished, but so far I'm struggling to understand what's going on with the army flashback bits. Maybe it's not meant to be clear yet or maybe I just missed something.
Jimboxy Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 whats this like in terms of total play time? Is it as epic (ie strung out) as GTAIV?
DANGERMAN Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 took me about 20 hours, but I did loads of driving and did more than half the side missions. If you let your partner drive and just do the story it could be about half that also well done ill
spatular Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 whats this like in terms of total play time? Is it as epic (ie strung out) as GTAIV? unless the cases get massively longer near the end (and if i can be bothered to finish it) i estimate my total play time should be under 20 hours, that's with no side quests. edit - i must be pretty slow at this then, i got the other guy to do all the driving too. it does seem to take about 8 years to find evidence each time.
illdog Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 whats this like in terms of total play time? Is it as epic (ie strung out) as GTAIV? For just the cases it took me about 28 hours but i drove everywhere myself and did 36 street crimes aswell as 89 cars. Also, i dont suppose anyone's got a Naked City unused code they would be willing to sell/part with?
stoobie Posted May 27, 2011 Author Posted May 27, 2011 Put some names to the faces - might be spoilers if you havent finished it yet Whos who in L.A. Noire
DANGERMAN Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 I was looking on imdb for some of the actors the other day. The woman who plays Elsa is beautiful
Jimboxy Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 Put some names to the faces - might be spoilers if you havent finished it yet Whos who in L.A. Noire If they ever need to make digital version of Mad Men, they'll be pretty much good to go. Also Artz from LOST!! Excellent!
TopGunKnacker Posted May 27, 2011 Posted May 27, 2011 I dont like the storyline in this - I love doing the cases, but the storyline is annoying me. Why on earth would Phelps sleep with the singer - it is completely out of his character and seems like it was shoe-horned in just to demote him to arson. I would have much prefered just a series of cases to solve rather than an unbelievable plot twist. phelps isnt as straightlaced and stable as you think, it suprised me too as i dont think team bondi had done a good job of showing (at all) that cole was a bit messed up, but by the end his affair made sense.
stoobie Posted May 27, 2011 Author Posted May 27, 2011 Yeah - the end does clear things up a bit, but I still didnt believe the story - not good in a game thats main selling point is its realism! I did really enjoy playing it tho! Dont want to sound all negative
TopGunKnacker Posted May 28, 2011 Posted May 28, 2011 yeah it was like it had scenes missing when i was playing it, i just mean that at the end you can see what they intended the characters to be, despite the fact they did a terrible job of developing some aspects of them eg. coles conflicted, weak side
retroed Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 I'm at the start of the last homicide case now. I'm liking it a lot, a really unique experience that's great to play a case or two at a time. The Rockstar Pass is now available on Marketplace. It's 800MSP, and you get: The Broderick Detective Suit The Sharpshooter Detective Suit The Badge Pursuit Challenge & Button Man Suit The Naked City Vice Case A Slip Of The Tongue Traffic Case Nicholson Electroplating Arson Case Reefer Madness Vice Case
Hendo Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 I got nothing with my copy, is that all the special edition stuff? Seems a good price for 4 cases. Also, belated congrats illdizzle. I'm somewhere in Homicide now I think, still on the first disc.
retroed Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 It's all the pre-order stuff, along with two new cases - Nicholson Electroplating and Reefer Madness. I got mine in Gamestation on launch day and managed to get their limited version that came with the Naked City Vice case, and the Badge Pursuit Challenge (with photo negatives). You'll be on disc two anytime now, Hendo. I think there's one homicide case on disc one.
stoobie Posted May 31, 2011 Author Posted May 31, 2011 Nicholson Electroplating and Reefer Madness These arent available yet tho are they? You are just pre-buying them for when they are released.
Hendo Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 As these new and limited edition cases appear in the middle of the game (and apparently some do feel like they were ripped out of the game as there's plot that explains some later game stuff), is it worth buying the pass and then holding off on playing more till I can play "the full game"? *EDIT* Bought the pass, I'm sure they'll be some sale soon enough but 800 points for all that is pretty good.
illdog Posted May 31, 2011 Posted May 31, 2011 *EDIT* Bought the pass, I'm sure they'll be some sale soon enough but 800 points for all that is pretty good. Fuck yea, im totally buying that when i get home. Shiiiiiiiit.
stoobie Posted May 31, 2011 Author Posted May 31, 2011 Looks like now might the best time to buy The Rockstar Pass buys all DLC for 800 Microsoft Points or $10 (PSN) - a 50 per cent saving on what you'd pay for all seven add-ons separately. That's a time-limited price; the Rockstar Pass will cost 960 MSP or $12 from 14th June. But that's still a 40 per cent saving.
