Hendo Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 Very nearly game up on this about an hour from the end. I'd spent my first run through buying nodes and upgrading what I could and by the end I had a tiny amount of ammo and pretty much no health. The enemies you face near the end.... that won't die, just regenerate .....really pissed me off and I pretty much just had to peg it instead of fighting. I'll at the very least go NewGame+ on Casual and beef up my arsenal and hopefully I'll enjoy it a bit more, same way I played Resi Evil 5. Also, major plot spoiler ahead.... I really don't get how Isaac would've built the marker. I must've missed some info somewhere but how exactly did they persuade a man who'd seen what it does, go and build another one?
stoobie Posted February 26, 2011 Posted February 26, 2011 I pretty much just had to peg it instead of fighting. I may be wrong but I think that is the idea - its what I did anyway.
TopGunKnacker Posted February 27, 2011 Author Posted February 27, 2011 and more recently, a version of the hunter from dead space 1. it made me wonder though, what exactly that thing is, the hunter from ds1 is the result of some kind of necromorph experiment by the crazy doctor. but this one doesnt look like a necromorph at all, no rotten flesh etc, it looks more like an alien. maybe its what necros become if they reach the end of some sort of cycle? imagine fighting hundreds of those things i think itll happen at some point, obviously theyll give you some weapon that counteracts its regenerative properties
Hendo Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 That film looks terrible! maybe its what necros become if they reach the end of some sort of cycle? Yeah that's what I figured as it's near the Marker. Done my second run through, this time on Casual, got most of the missing achievements. I don't think I'm ready for a go on Zealot just yet and I certainly don't want to be touching Hard Core mode. I've enjoyed this run through more though.
retroed Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Severed is live on 360 Marketplace. 1.43GB. I'm downloading it, but am going to finish Bulletstorm before I touch it.
Sambob Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Beat the cunt, FINALLY. Fucking see you later game, straight to Game for trade in. I dont think ive ever enjoyed finishing a game less than this, its been such a chore to play. I think I might film it being traded in and also me playing the game that I get with the trade in money and then a la dead space's fucking infinite death sequences just play it over and over to the developers. Its probably a good game, and I like the way that the whole universe has been nicely built up and added to, but it just wasnt 'fun' to play. I feel like ive been continually fucked in the ass throughout and thats not how I want my games to make me feel, and its spoiled all the really well put together action sequences and flowing narrative. Id had all I could take of necromorphs leaping out of some fucking cupboard, or carrying out some plan only for something to go wrong at the last minute over and over again, and the last hour just stretched it too far, shame really.
Sambob Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Yeah normal, some bits I breezed through some bits were definite sticking points. Glad I finished it, but if I hadn't done tonight then it was going back uncompleted.
retroed Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 You should have just dropped it down to Casual, man. Don't be ashamed in doing so.
Pikman Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Yeah normal, some bits I breezed through some bits were definite sticking points. Glad I finished it, but if I hadn't done tonight then it was going back uncompleted. You could sell it to me if it'll make you more than Game will give you... I'd part with £20 for it, so long as its 360 though
Sambob Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Yeah could have done I suppose Ed, think it was just a case of not my type of game, I recognise that it's well made, well paced and a top notch classic survival horror. Game said earlier on Monday that they would give me 25 for it, which isn't bad considering it's still selling new for 27, I'd rather it went to a forumite than the corporate Game, but you can get it brand new using that link Ed posted to gameplay, 22 quid. Its up to you Jon but it seems to make more sense that you order it cheaper...
Hendo Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 I can understand that Sam, I also found it too hard in places for a "Normal" difficulty level. It is a lot more fun in Casual especially when you've upgraded your favourite guns.
stoobie Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Sam's a pussy Even i finished it on Normal - man up Sam
Hendo Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Started up the Severed DLC as it's currently going cheap. Considering it's meant to be fairly short, it's a massive file to download, must be a lot of new assets in there. It follows the people from Dead Space : Extraction but I can't remember much about what happened to the characters, apart from the one dude who sounded a bit South African. I can't tell for sure, but I'm guessing this is set after the events of Extraction? Also, going back to Sam's earlier point on the main game, I'm playing it on Normal and I'm dying a bit, which is a little embarrassing.
TopGunKnacker Posted January 7, 2012 Author Posted January 7, 2012 Did anyone on here manage a Hardcore run through then?. yeah boi! no idea where the Severed file size comes from, hendo, youre in mostly the same locations. audio, perhaps?
Hendo Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Yeah it's quite clever as you go backwards to the way that Isaac went but it really does re-use a lot of assets. The story's ok - it picks up about 3 years after the events of Extraction, seems to run slightly after Isaac has run through as one room you are un-doing a puzzle he put together and another room has the corpse of a monster he fought. The two main people from Extraction are now husband and wife - after what they went through, wouldn't you just get the hell out of anywhere that had anything to do with Unitology?
