A Song A Day

That clearly isn't proper jazz, they stuck to a proper 4/4 timing and played in time. :P

I really like that particular tune, jazz of that era is really laid back. After that it starts to get a bit messy, those crazy cats alway having to go and break the music rules.

And now, some God rock.

I have seen that on the music channels loads of times, watched a couple of seconds of it, said GAY! and turned it off. Now that I have listened to it I don't think I have been missing much. It exists I suppose. Is there much else to say about it?

That was pretty dull. But! But! it's got Satan in the title and is about baking hash cookies, and get this... they're an English speaking band but are singing in German!!! Mind blown! (if I was 13). <_<

The POD one was OK, inoffensive pop-rock. They were on the bill at the first gig I went to with Monica.

I'm posting this one because it's the album I was listening to on the bus home...

The song doesn't do a whole lot for me, there were parts that I did like a lot though. But the other version you posted was amazing! She's doing so much work (more apparent in the other version i think) and she's got a great voice. Really impressed I might actually search out some more of her stuff.

As for the Tool song, I love Tool, but that's their worst song imo. A decent piece of music but just something to add atmosphere to the album imo

Get my obvious bands out of the way quick I think

This one:

?

I do like that one better mostly because it's in her kitchen, but switched it as the sound quality isn't all that.

Her album's on spotify:

Count again! The hint is in the title.

And agree on the Tool track. It's not one I would choose to show why I love the band, but it is one of the tracks I would choose to argue against the idea that they are stony-faced and have no sense of humour.

Do'h. It's still in time though, most jazz seems to have egocentric musicians who do what they want, even if it means dragging the music into disharmony.

Ah you can rarely go wrong with Mogwai. :)

It seems I'm missing some of their more recent albums, haven't got Mr Beast or anything that came after it.

I'll go with the track that introduced me to Lemon Jelly.

That is an ace Lemon Jelly track, one of my faves. I also really like Stay With You, from 64-95

I couldn't embed the proper video, taken from Interstella 5555, but here it is if you want to watch it.

I  it.

Cheer's for that Ed. It's a great track, but I'm not sure I'll get it out of my head, for the rest of the day.

I'll have to blast it out with this.

I really enjoyed that. Not a big fan of dancy type music. Or whatever you would normally call it but I have a soft spot for the Prodigy. They don't put the same nasty chavvy image into my head that others do, it sounds very dirty and it's something I could listen to without jumping up and down on the spot, off my face on bad ecstasy.

I love that Daft Punk song as well. That and the song after it, Short Circuit are two of my favourites. Always get this image in my head of the last level on a side scrolling beat 'em up for Veridis Quo and then the boss fight for Short Circuit.

And with the Tool song. I just like the way it sounds like a Nazi rally.

Bob's last few picks got a hammering so I don't want to say it but I'll have to. Bob, what the fuck was that?

It's just not my bag but I did relate to it when he was angry at the angels, but only if I imagined he was talking about the Robbie song.

It's a shame my last 10 minute one was considered too long, I had a few of a similar length in mind. So I'll just go with this.

 It's cool. I'm one of those crazy people that doesn't get offended when someone thinks their taste in music is terrible. So go nuts.

Exactly, it's a piss take on how a German guy reading a recipe can be made to sound like a Nuremburg rally.

And I appreciate the genius of Devin Townsend, Bob.

I really like that song, it's been ages since I last heard it. The way he delivers his lyrics can be quite comical, it's like he's got better things to do than sing to idiots like us or something.

Sometimes you hear something that just goes round and round in your head, even if the song isn't that great (which may be an understatement here ). The phonetic chorus of this imprints itself on my brain. Spoilered because probably NSFW. Or fit for listening for that matter.

I don't think I've ever heard that one of theirs or seen the video at least. Some great lines in there:

"Marinate the nether rod, in the squish mitten."

Not his best song, but I was listening to Graham Coxon yesterday so I'm putting this one forward:

Man I love that song, it has some kind of purity or some shit, I dunno. What you think his best song is then, Hendo?

My mate said he thought Freaking Out reminded him of this, but I'm not sure if I hear it

I don't like this review part so much.... The song was kind of boring. The way he would go high every now and then made me think that he didn't actually know what to do and would occasionally just wail because people may have fallen asleep otherwise. Also, when playing games with Sly, he does the same thing that guy does when he says there's really nothing left to hiIIIIDE. People that have played with him will probably know what I mean so it's kind of hard to take it seriously. Less annoying though.

The music was great but growly bloke vocals are so clichéd and laughable, it's hard to take anyone who uses them seriously. The video looked kind of cool, like a violent version of saturday morning cartoons, but was ruined by the constant fast cuts.

Just a little different, and I would have really enjoyed that.

Going with this one just because it's fun. I saw them live supporting The Presidents of the USA, and they were a really likeable bunch of guys.
