A Song A Day

It is fun, fun and true. That's a great piece of garage rock. Another band I'll be checking out because of this thread.

Yeah, I'm using my favourite albums of all time list as inspiration.

T%his is a bit unfair because I've always disliked Blur (bar a handful of exceptions). I've never liked their cheeky 'Oi'ness, but this is the other side of their early stuff. I dont think it really goes anywhere, but then I love My Bloody Valentine and there stuff doesn't either, so that's no bad thing. It was good to hear something less well known by them, and it does go up towards the top of a short list of Blur tracks I'd sit through, which I guess means it deserves a smile :)

This is a bit of a compromise. There's a video to it but the sound isn't as clear, and I think it's a stronger track with clear bass and Rahzel coming through

What you think his best song is then, Hendo?

I dunno, technically it probably is his best song but I prefer the earlier stuff where it sounds like he just set up in his shed to record.

"Locked Doors" from The Kiss of Morning is pretty good.

The problem is I now always associate that song with the bootleg of that mixed with Belinda Carlisle.

I've never heard of Patton's Peeping Tom project. On the strength of that I should check out the album, he sounds as close as he's ever gotten outside of Faith No More as sounding like the Mike Patton most people know.

I'm picking mine for today purely selfishly because I haven't heard it or seen the video in ages.

I adore Divine Comedy. Neil Hannon is such an awesome songwriter, and I love the big band sound of that one.

I don't know anything about these 2, just that the song has been going through my head for 2 days.

I think I came across that before when I was up late watching MTV years a go. I remember the video was an animated one with a classic, boxy robot with the soul purpose to be a womens sex toy and it breaks in the end after too much use.. or that could be a different song and it just reminds me of it.

As for the song itself, I dunno what to make of it. It would sound okay in the right environment and it does have a certain catchy-ness which can work both for and against it. I wouldn't go out of my way to listen to it, and one of the singers sounds like Sporty Spice.

I really enjoyed that. It reminded me of my next choice... vaguely. A lot actually, the vocals at least, but I'd be surprised if anyone else sees it so I am going to cover myself by saying kind of. Well, it made me think of this next one at least *covers himself some more*

Town Meeting Song - Polyphonic Spree

The music was great but growly bloke vocals are so clichéd and laughable, it's hard to take anyone who uses them seriously.

That's the point of Dethklok you big silly :P

That's not what you'd usually expect to hear from Polyphonic Spree. I used to love Tripping Daisy (his old band), and as much as I liked the sound PS could create a little went a long way. This though I really enjoyed, I preferred it when they made it more their own at the start, they should have kept it like that all the way through. When they start throwing in dialogue from the film you notice it doesnt have the same character and it starts to drag

Good though, a bit long, but good. Beginning and end are particularly good

A few of you have probably already heard this, but here goes anyway

Sounds like the guy that voiced Kermit the frog behind all that auto tune. I like how the Hawking sounded exactly the same as he does without any masking, I found that quite amusing.

DC talking about 'sexy' robots reminded me of this.

i liked that ^ well the sort of raping bit was good, not so much the bits where they were shouting "plug it in" though.

people seem to be posting songs i've never heard of...i'm probably not going to be able to continue that trend, anyway:

I dug out my copy of In Rainbows the other day. I was looking for the CD to import, couldn't find it and then realised where it was and that I'd bought the big fuck-off special edition with the vinyl and extra CD. It's a beast of a special edition.

To be fair, it's not one of my favourites from that album - I think I tend to prefer the more ballad-type songs on it, like Nude, Videotape and All I Need.

I went through the 3 Arctic Monkeys albums and Last of The Shadow Puppets album today and this is still my favourite track. Pretty much every line is genius.

They have not really come close to topping that album, I think there were maybe 2 duds later on into the album. If you want to learn to play guitar, learning songs from that album will help you progress pretty fast as it's as simple as it gets.

I've come across some weird songs in my time, but this take todays trophy by a mile. Who knew someone like this would have a voice like that?

Bear in mind that this was done before all the auto tune shit. He might have been a massive fat racist, but he can carry a tune, even if the song is amazingly cheesy.

I couldn't actually listen to all of that due to him being a fat racist and stuff but he certainly can carry a tune. Well done that fat racist.
