Completely out of the blue, Sony's just announced God of War: Ghost of Sparta, a brand new God of War game for PSP.

Developed by Chains of Olympus studio, Ready At Dawn in "close collaboration" with SCEA's Santa Monica Studio, Ghost of Sparta will apparently push the PSP to its limits with "state-of-the-art visual technologies, higher resolution environments, and greater depths of scale".

SCEA promises "25% more gameplay, an improved weapon system, and new magical powers" in its handheld sequel.

The storyline apparently picks up where the original God of War finished: "Ghost of Sparta tells the story of Kratos' ascension to power as the God of War," reads Sony's blurb.

"In his quest to rid the nightmares that haunt him, Kratos must face his dark past to prove his worthiness to the Gods - a journey that will reveal the origins of lost worlds and finally answer long-awaited questions about Kratos' tattoo, scar, and family."

Plenty more will be revealed at E3, the platform holder says.

Chains of Olympus was great, they made a good stab at doing GoW with just one analogue stick and only 2 shoulder buttons.

25% more gameplay

Not being familiar with the God of War games, how much gameplay will that be in total?

150%. maybe 200%?

Also, Ready at Dawn must either be struggling money wise or getting paid a shit ton to do this. They sent their PSP dev kits back like 2 years ago to make a console game, of which nothing has surfaced. Hmm.

Yeah David, I was going to mention that. I guess what with Chains of Olympus being the highest metacritic rated PSP game of all time, and how well it went on to sell, ReadyAtDawn are willing to rake in some more monies.

Craymen, Chains of Olympus is a lot shorter than the console versions. I think it took me between 5 and 6 hours, certainly no more.
