Supagorgonizer Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 I bought it today! it's excellent, very short and ends all of a sudden... but its great. looks fantastic and plays really well, although there's not really anything more than shooting and dodging. about 12 stages which can be completed in about 10 minutes, so its really one for the SHMUP/high score people I'm loving it, but i think if you didn't know what you were in for you may come away dissapointed
spatular Posted April 21, 2010 Posted April 21, 2010 yeah I bought it today! it's excellent, very short and ends all of a sudden... but its great. looks fantastic and plays really well, although there's not really anything more than shooting and dodging. about 12 stages which can be completed in about 10 minutes, so its really one for the SHMUP/high score people I'm loving it, but i think if you didn't know what you were in for you may come away dissapointed cool, i wasn't that interested in it before today but its getting positive feedback, and it sounds like it'll be right up my street, think i'll have to pick it up at some point
retroed Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 Bought this earlier, and 200G'd it a short while later. It's truly brilliant stuff. So fast it hurts your eyes! The more you play Arcade mode the more EX options you unlock. By the end I was dominating, larger cursor, fire always on, turbo always on. It takes just over 7 minutes to play through Arcade mode with turbo on constantly. I have given Score Attack a brief look but spent most of my time with Arcade mode. I always find I suck at score attacks, so we'll see how it goes. Amazing stuff, though. It's OutRun Online Arcade in the sky. I switched the sound to After Burner II's, which is awesome. FIRE, FIRE, FIRE!. There's two Avatar Awards to be obtained too: http://blogs.sega.com/europe/2010/04/21/after-burner-climax-prices-achievements-awards-all-the-details-you-need/
HandsomeDead Posted April 22, 2010 Posted April 22, 2010 I still haven't got it yet, probably will at the weekend. I don't mind that it's short. The PSP game had about 40+ missions and I felt kinda done after about 20, by the time I got to 30ish I was deffinately done.
Hendo Posted April 23, 2010 Posted April 23, 2010 Gave the trial a try, it looks and sounds brilliant but it doesn't shake my stance that Afterburner is only good when you're sitting in a big ass machine that moves.
Hendo Posted February 9, 2013 Posted February 9, 2013 Out now on iOS for (currently) 2 quid. I bought it, there are no microtransactions. Haven't tried it yet but apparently works really well on touch screen.
