That thread about being excited by games reminded me there is something.. This.

<param name="movie" value="

name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><embed src="
type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340">

Some details have been mentioned in ye old paper publications. There will be a hardcore mode where you have to keep yourself fed and watered and you're not simply good or evil, actions seen as shitty in one area you will be loved in another.

Bethesda aren't making it, Obsidian are, famous for making sequels to other peoples games but its founders were involved in the original Fallout games so it should be fine, and rushed ending aside, what they did with KoTOR2 was awesome, there were some really memorable characters in that. Infact if KoTOR was a song then Obsidian's sequel was like on of those rare covers that is brilliant.

I'm getting on this hype train since you're a miserable fuck if you don't get excited now, anyone else?

of course! ive got first class tickets on the hype train and ill be sipping hype cocktails and looking out of the rose-tinted windows all the way to release :D

i think this may be one of those games where the hardcore difficulty adds to the gameplay to the point where it will be my first playthrough difficulty

I'm guessing that's the trailer with the robot sifting thru the sand. I've never been so let down by a teaser... The model of that robot put me off. It was suddenly a sci-fi universe over an alternative. I know the Fallout 3 was sci fi but little things like the robots in the wasteland being of a believable design is what sold it for me. I'll check it out again closer to launch but at the moment it's looking like an avoid for me.

It's coming along nicely. I'm wondering if it'll still be glitchy as Fallout 3, because I hope it is, it made some really surreal moments, not the game breaking ones, mind. They suck.

I had a the whole town on the motorway viaduct killed by rogue Mirelurks. Thankfully, I had already done the side quest there.

Wallet busting collectors edition looks like this.

Bethesda has announced that it’s to release a Collector’s Edition for Fallout: New Vegas.

Along with the game, it includes the following items:

* Lucky 7 poker chips: As the name suggests, there are seven in total, each representing the major casinos located on The Strip in Vegas and in the Mojave Wasteland in the game.

* Deck of playing cards: Each card in the pack contains an illustration of characters and factions found in the game.

* A “recreation of the game’s highly coveted Lucky 38 platinum chip”.

* All Roads: A hardcover graphic novel written by the game’s creative director Chris Avellone and published by Dark Horse Comics. It tells the tale of the events leading up to the game.

* The Making of Fallout: New Vegas DVD: A documentary with exclusive video content, interviews, and concept to creation information.

It is to be made available for PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 alongside the normal retail version this fall.

You will be able to pre-order it through retail in “the weeks to come”, said Bethesda.

No price just yet.

Check out a picture of the Collector’s Edition below.

Some of the guys and gals doin' the talking.

When players head to Fallout: New Vegas this fall, Wayne Newton won't be the only celebrity they encounter.

If you missed it, in USA TODAY's interview with Wayne Newton today the real-world Mr. Las Vegas talks about his video game character Mr. New Vegas, a programmed radio DJ. Other stars announced today by publisher Bethesda Softworks include Matthew Perry (Friends), Zachary Levi (Chuck) and, of course, Ron Perlman (Sons of Anarchy).

Some character descriptions, courtesy of Bethesda Softworks:

-- Perry's character, Benny (pictured here), is the head of the Geckos family. A smooth-talking criminal but also a bit of a weasel, Benny may sound dangerous, but isn't that tough. Ultimately he's more of a ruthless pragmatist than a villain.

-- Zachary Levi's playable character Arcade (pictured here) is a member of the Followers of the Apocalypse who hides a mysterious past. He's described as quiet, analytical, and cautious. Highly ethical and moral, he understands the post-apocalyptic world is one in which sometimes, people just have to be shot in the head. HE is more concerned with large-scale issues than the needs of individuals. He may appreciate what individual people go through, but firmly believes that it's more important to affect large-scale societal change than to fix problems little by little.

-- Another newcomer who will be familiar to video gamers is Felicia Day (The Guild), who voices the playable character Veronica, a sarcastic Brotherhood of Steel scribe.

-- A third playable companion is Raul the Ghoul, a mechanic and former gunslinger voiced by Danny Trejo (From Dusk Till Dawn).

-- Ron Perlman (Hellboy) returns to voice the narrator in Fallout: New Vegas, a role he has played in every major Fallout game to date.

-- Actor and singer/songwriter Kris Kristofferson (The Blade Trilogy) plays Chief Hanlon, a grizzled solider at the end of his career.

-- Rene Auberjonois (Boston Legal, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) is the enigmatic and reclusive Mr. House.

-- Michael Dorn (Star Trek:The Next Generation) returns as Marcus, an intelligent super-mutant, last seen in 1998's Fallout 2.

-- John Doman (Mystic River, The Wire) plays Caesar, the charismatic and powerful dictator at the head of Caesar's Legion.

-- William Sadler (The Shawshank Redemption) is Victor, a friendly robot with the personality of an old fashioned cowboy.

"The voice acting provided by these actors helps drive the compelling and immersive story of Fallout and further adds to the overall gameplay experience," said Bethesda Softworks' Pete Hines in a statement with the announcement.

Fallout: New Vegas, under development at Obsidian Entertainment, is out Oct. 19 for PS3, Xbox 360 and Games for Windows PCs.

The voice work in F3 was decent, I remember no real divs. I'd imagine those are decent choices for the job at hand.

Bethesda has sent us details of the Fallout: New Vegas Collector's Edition for the UK, which will be exclusively available from Game and Gamestation for a RRP of £69.99.

Like its North American counterpart, the premium version of Fallout: New Vegas will contain a host of gambling-inspired goodies, including 'Lucky 7' poker chips, a custom deck of Fallout: New Vegas playing cards, a recreation of the highly-coveted 'Lucky 38' platinum chip, an 'All Roads' hardback prequel graphic novel and a 'Making Of' DVD. It's pretty much identical to the version already confirmed for the US in fact.

Bethesda has also confirmed four pre-order packs for the UK that will be available from Game, Play.com, Gamestation and Amazon, the contents of which are as follows:

♠ Classic Pack - GAME

An armoured Vault 13 Suit – Extensively patched up and dotted with piecemeal armour, this outfit is an homage to the classic ending of the original Fallout. A Vault 13 Canteen – This handy device is useful for staving off dehydration and providing a small amount of healing in the Mojave Wasteland. A weathered 10mm Pistol – A well-worn 10mm pistol that packs an extra punch despite its modest size. 5 Stimpaks – Food and water are good for long-term healing, but when the fighting is fierce, Stimpaks help keep Wastelanders upright.

♠ Caravan Pack – Play.com

Lightweight Leather Armour – This hand-modified suit of leather armor reduces its overall weight without impacting its ability to protect. Sturdy Caravan Shotgun – Despite its rough appearance, this Caravan Shotgun will reliably fire 20 gauge shells until the Brahmin come home. 4 Repair Kits – Useful for repairing any outfit or weapon, Repair Kits are a valuable tool for any caravaner. Binoculars — The Mojave Wasteland is a dangerous place, but with these trusty Binoculars you’ll be able to spot trouble coming.

♠ Mercenary Pack – Gamestation

Lightweight Metal Armour – Modified for long-range travel, this Metal Armour sacrifices some protection for mobility and overall weight. Mercenary’s Grenade Rifle – Though similar to other 40mm Grenade Rifles in the Mojave Wasteland, this model has a faster reload cycle. 3 Super Stimpaks – When you absolutely, positively, need to keep your blood inside your body, Super Stimpaks fix you up in no time. 3 Doctors Bags – Mercenaries and broken limbs go together like Iguana-on-a-Stick and Nuka Cola. Thankfully, these Doctors Bags take a bit of sting out of the inevitable crushed skull.

♠ Tribal Pack - Amazon

Tribal Raiding Armour – Pieced together from scraps of armour, this outfit provides protection without impacting mobility. Broad Machete – This heavy-bladed melee weapon does high damage against limbs and can quickly deal out a flurry of attacks. 5 Bleak Venom doses – Useful on any Melee Weapon, Bleak Venom makes short of work of most living targets. 10 Throwing Spears – If you would like to silently pin an enemy’s head to a wall, Throwing Spears are the way to do it.

A lot of pre-orders!
