Game or console?

So I was playing Katamari on 360 for about 20 minutes when it made this really scary noise (through the speakers not from the console) and froze. I couldn't do anything with the console either except turn it off and on again. No red rings or scratched disc so maybe it's something with the game, but I've been playing it for the last week just fine and I've had no problems and there are no scratches on the disc.

Any ideas what could be wrong? It seems to be working alright now, but there must be something up since I've never had that happen before. On the verge of redringing perhaps?

Yeah, it was that one. Didn't realise it had a bug, will it keep happenning or is just one thing that triggers it?

EDIT: It just happenned again when I went to report for the Oasis cafe level, I had just rolled up a cousin and a present I missed the first time around too!

Argh, this makes it unplayable, I don't want to play a game that breaks everytime I'm actually doing well for a change!

Totally random, although I played that game a hell of a lot, you can tell by the leaderboards, that bug only happened maybe twice? Three times max. Bloody annoying but what can you do? Apart from not play the game.

are you going to take advantage of your position and switch it for one of the working 2nd hand ones at your work? Not that I'd ever do something like that. (I'm assuming it's actually still under warranty and you wont have to do this)

Nope, it's out of my warranty and my manager is really strict *sigh* I do know someone who works for Microsoft as a PR so hopefully I can be sneaky and get it fixed faster that way

As part of my pitch to get people to get gamecare I say: "my 360 is making funny noises so I know it's going to go soon, I'm kicking myself for not getting the extended warranty." I've been saying that for almost 5 months and now I am kicking myself

I doubt it, It was working fine until today and I heard red ring is caused by flexing of the motherboard. The soldering in there is shitty so when it get's hot the board can bend, if it's get's hot often enough then some connections stop working. My guess is it happens bit by bit,melting a bit then reseting, gradually shifting until it goes.

It was an old 20gb so it's not as toug as the new ones.

Don;t Microsoft cover 360's for three years on the red ring fault. I got mine fixed that way. You'll have to register the console with them first, though.
