A Boy and His Blob

Happy to report that it's a thing of beauty  It captures the feel of adventuring as a kid and throws in some nifty puzzle elements. It helps that it never really tells you what to do. You start in the boy's tree house and explore at your leisure.

The relationship between boy and blob is adorable and yes, there is a hug button.

It's not been particularly difficult so far and I don't imagine it ever will be but it's also never so easy that it's a bore either.

Each level looks fantastic. So much work has gone into the look and presentation. It's nice not to have to worry about jaggies coming to get me. The soundtrack is wonderful and also adds to the exploration and adventure feeling :)

My order came with some nice art cards that too show the detail and love gone into creating it.

I urge you all to put your guns down for a second and buy it.

got this at the weekend and am loving it to tiny, tiny pieces. beautifully presented and although it is perhaps on the easy side i'm finding that i don't really care as it just draws you in and won't let go. and i personally think that all games should have a hug button. just done the first boss which i wasn't expecting at all and i'm looking forward to going back and trying some of the challenge levels once i've perhaps done world 2.

I have nothing to add on this game having not played it, but I would like to say that wiivo wins the award for best thread subtitle ever.

Glad you're enjoying it badjuju. It isn't very taxing to get through but it is a challenge to get all the treasuee chests.

Game got. I've done the first world, the first few levels were gentle and getting through any level was easy enough. Its getting all the chests that require a bit of thought, much like the chests in Wario: Shake Dimension. The boss I beat required a bit of trial and error gameplay, because of the one hit kill mechanic and the animations (while amazing) are hard to read. I think its more that I didn't expect a boss and I didn't know how to deal with it.

Great game so far though. :)

a pleasant surprise at the end!

just beat the emporer and was quite happy to see that extra levels were added to the first world, especially when i used the new jellybean to create the mech blob. sheer awesomeness!

I wasnt expecting this to look as beautifully cartoony as it is, it looks absolutely gorgeous, it reminds me of the original Winnie the Pooh cartoons, the boy even looks like Cristopher Robin just with a much bigger head.

The controls at first felt a little spread out and im sure they could be simplified a little but once you get used to them there isnt really a problem. My only other gripe has been Blobs random wonderings, sometimes he just fuck off for no apparent reason, always just when i need him.

Didnt understand the balloon transformations purpose untill i was up very high and needed Blobs assistance...

Ive only done the first three levels and they've all been very easy but im in the mood for a gentle game like this thats both pleasing on the eye and quite relaxing to play. Im feeling some Wii love.

I haven't played this but I was listening to the 8-4 podcast yesterday and a few of the Shovel Knight developers were on it. They were saying the core team made Shovel Knight made Boy and his Blob which I thought was kinda cool.
