Fable III Allows Inter Co-Op Buddy Love

Written Thursday, April 08, 2010 by Dan Webb

According to this month's edition of the Official Xbox Mag in the UK, this holiday's Fable III title will allow you to get "intimate" and copulate with your co-op buddy.

The mag writes, "The team seems committed to ensuring the [co-op] experience is in no way compromised," before going on to mention, "You'll be able to enjoy, ahem, intimate moments with your co-op friend and eventually produce offspring together."

So if you've ever wanted to get your online friends pregnant - digitally of course - then Fable III seems to be the first game in which that's possible.

We can finally sex each other up!

Ben Kingsley is also in the cast.

Veteran actor Ben Kingsley has signed up to provide a voiceover for Fable III.

"I'm a voice in a new videogame shortly - Fable III," he told CVG. "I'm a wonderful wizard character who is the king of Mist Peak."

According to Kingsley, "It's very energising and good for us actors to realise that [acting] is so diverse now. [Games] are as big a jump now as I suppose when cinema was invented, when people went from the stage to the cinema thinking: It's not really acting, is it? Now, it's videogames - and it is acting. It's very demanding."

Kingsley joins the likes of John Cleese and Jonathan Ross in signing up for Fable III.

Fable III Getting the GFW & Limited Edition Treatment

Written Friday, May 21, 2010 by Dan Webb

After the "cover art debacle of 2010" - where Microsoft inadvertently confirmed Fable III for PC with that pesky "Only on" stamp - the console-making publisher today announced that Fable III would appear on Windows. Games for Windows specifically and only available via its Games on Demand service.

In more relevant news for our 360-centric readers - which is about 99.919% of you, Microsoft today also uncovered plans for Fable III's Limited Edition, which carries a RRP of £59.99 -note: that's RRP, not retail price, which will probably be closer to £50.

The contents of said Limited Edition seems like a must-have for Fable fans, offering a whole array of goodies to use in-game; including a DLC quest, an exclusive location, a unique outfit, a breed of Boxer dog and more.

The full contents is as follows:

* A new quest: Uncover the mystery of the haunted forests of Silverpines and earn the legendary sword, Wolfsbane, deadly against wolves and balverines.

* Exclusive location: Unlock a new region, ideal for settling down with a family and discovering new treasures.

* “Fable III” playing cards: Created by Lionhead, these cards depict every type of character in “Fable III,” including Heroes, royals, rebels and villains from across Albion and beyond.

* Guild Seal Coin: The coin features a Good side (blue) and Evil side (red) to assist players in making critical decisions that will impact the fate of the world forever.

* A new dog breed: Renowned for its loyalty, the Boxer is a brave canine companion worthy of greatest Queens and Kings.

* One unique outfit: Unearth one male and female outfit from the mysterious, faraway land of Aurora, a new destination in your “Fable III” adventures.

Microsoft have incredibly high hopes for Fable III, with Lionhead Studios' Peter Molyneux deliberately pitching the game as more of an action-adventure than RPG to reach a broader audience.

"We are driving to sell more than five million units and to make a profit in excess of $150 million," he stated. "We have to do that because if a franchise doesn't reach that level it will inevitably wither."

Part of the strategy will involve repeating Fable II's success as downloadable episodes post-launch, a move that netted $15 million from 1.6 million downloads.

"Soon after the retail launch we're doing episodic. We break it down into chapters. We give away the first chapter entirely free, the first hour. When you reach a certain point in the game it says 'thank you for playing the pilot of Fable III, do you want to spend an extra 2-5 or whatever dollars to buy the next episode, or buy the whole lot?' Press 'yes' and you will immediately continue playing," explained Molyneux.

Molyneux went on to say how this "freemium idea" works better than a demo. "Anyone out there who thinks a demo is a good idea is crazy," he said. "It's never a good idea, because demos are usually done at the end of a game and they require an enormous amount of design talent to make a demo. The other thing is you're more likely to satisfy the curiosity of a user rather than entice them to play more."

Fable III will also be a more accessible game than previous installments in a bid to attract more casual and female gamers. "About 30 per cent of people that played Fable II were women," according to Molyneux who's on a recruitment drive for women and whose Milo team is almost half female. "The reason we're doing this is really trying to bring a wider audience into the Fable franchise, because my suspicion is there's a lot of people who are the partners of core gamers who probably want to get involved as well."

Fable III will also include Kinect features that Molyneux has dubbed the 'touch' mechanic, which should also succeed in drawing the interest of a more casual audience.

hmm dont agree with his stance on demos, if its a good game and the demo is indicative of the quality people will buy it off the back of that experience. i and most people i know have made purchase decisions off the back of demos before.

Utilising the Fable III Villager Maker, fans can not only create their very own villager and import them into their game world, but they'll also give you a new quest, 1,000 shiny gold coins and will even interact with your hero on your way to becoming the ruler of Albion. So if you’ve ever fanaticised about farting in your very own creation’s face, Fable III looks set to offer that.

The Fable III Villager Maker allows you not only to customise their looks – with 2,000 different variations possible – it also allows you to create their backstory, character traits, clothing, accent, hairstyle and which region they hail from.

While everyone can create their own villager using the character creation tool, only those that pre-order the title at participating retailers will be able to import them into their game.

If you somehow feel the urge and haven’t spammed your friends enough, you can even save your character as a desktop wallpaper and share your creation on Twitter and Facebook.

If you’ve ever wanted to craft your very own Fable drinking buddy, a whipping boy, a potential mistress, an evil ally or the village idiot, now you can, which frankly, sounds bloody marvellous.

Head on over to Xbox.com now to customise your villager

Microsoft certainly like to support their three major franchises (Halo, Gears of War and Fable) with plenty of game-related gubbins and Fable III this year will be no different.

Shipping on October 5th, the Fable III Limited Edition wireless controller will be hitting stores for $59.99 which not only has a unique look, created by the talented artists at Lionhead, but it will also ship with an exclusive token for an in-game tattoo. Head on over to Kotaku to see their exclusive shots of the fairly garish pad.

If you've got too many controllers already - like me - then how about a Fable III novel penned by renowned writer, Peter David, whose work includes Star Trek novels and a ridiculous amount of comics.

Fable: The Balverine Order, according to Amazon, follows the adventure of two friends who head out to the East in search of the legendary beast, the Balverine, but before long, find themselves the prey to the predator they once sought out.

Published by Ace Publishing, Fable: The Balverine Order is also scheduled for an October 5th release, with the promise of an in-game weapon for those that make the plunge as well.
