One thing I'm surprised to read about are the comparisons to Station Eleven. I watched a few episodes of that when it came out, it wasn't what I expected which was some good ol' end of the world misery porn.

It does have the misery porn to an extent, but was way more hopeful and optimistic about the end of the world. It was mostly about art and culture and preserving it so at least even if humanity died out it would leave its mark, or to at least preserve it for the post-fall version of humanity. The 'post pandemic' bits would follow a travelling actors troupe performing Shakespeare plays tho there's also episodes that take place during the outbreak which are proper bleak. But it doesn't really strike me as a story similar to TLOU, so I wonder what kind of direction they would go in to bear these comparisons.

Just noticed that the first episode of TLoU is approx 90 mins - so I'm guessing it's really a double episode rather than all of them running at that length ?

Has it been said how long the series will be, and what point of the story it'll run to (i.e. is the first series going to be the entire first game?)

When it's a pilot episode of one of HBO's big projects, they tend to have those 'inflated' run times for the first episode. Boardwalk Empire did it as well if I recall, was basically a made for TV movie directed by Martin Scorcese, lots of hype for it back then.

They don't do it for all their stuff but TLOU is clearly one of those things where they hope it will be the next Sopranos or GoT in terms of being the number 1 prime time TV event (ironically I think GoT didn't get the big length pilot I think cause Boardwalk was supposed to be the next big thing, which it didn't end up being)

I saw the run time for the other episodes. Episode 3 is quite long but all the rest are between 40~ish minutes to one hour

Not sure how that's going to work out, but sounds interesting.

Severance, White Lotus S2 and TLOU.

All bangers, not seen Parks & Rec though.

Parks and rec was a decent show from season 2-6, 1 and 7 are pretty average, season 1 i guess because they were finding their feet and also in season 2 a main character who was pretty boring was written out. Season 7 it feels like the show just did a huge 180 for no apparent reason other than presumably some exec went "so we know people like you know, but we want to mix it up because we know best" (Hint: They didn't)

If you want an absolute belter from the same channel of Parks and rec but helmed by Dan Harmon then try Community starring Joel McHale, Chevy Chase, Ken Jeong, Donald Glover, Danny Pudi, Gillian Jacobs, and Alison Brie. Season 1 can come off as a college comedy but towards the later end of season 1 and definitely seasons 2-5 the Dan Harmon zanyness definitely kicks in (though he was booted off to deal with his alcoholism for season 4 aka the Gasleak year), Jim Rash is absolutely glorious as Dean Craig Pelton. There are 6 seasons and an upcoming movie, season 6 was during that weird time when Yahoo tried getting into tv with Yahoo TV, the show was more grown then , but honestly it's excellent

Parks and Rec is imo the best american sitcom from the past 15 years or so. At least I can't think of one that's better than it, tbh I've not looked super hard cause I think most of them aren't even that good lol. I think I will try Community at some point tho

I definitely dropped off around season 4 or somewhere around there. I can't remember, I think I remember seeing a few episodes in later seasons where Joe Biden and John McCain were making cameos and getting the impression that it had lost its way a little bit. Maybe it was around the time that Chris Pratt became one of the biggest movie stars in the world, and just having him be in everything made P&R just hard to enjoy as much.

He was great in Parks and Rec tho

I wasn’t into Ted Lasso S2. Only got 15 minutes into episode 1. Gave it another go recently and am on to episode 7 now. It’s good. Not as much as I enjoyed s1 but good none the less. Definitely gets better after a few episodes.

I watched an episode of Andor, I thought it was a boring as fuck disconnected stream of uninteresting events. 2nd time this happened to me with these Star Wars tv shows, I need to stop trusting ppl who say they're really good!

I'm sure it improves, but yeah not interested in seeing if it does sadly. I think you just need to already be really interested in this style of Star Wars story before going in I think, cause it had nothing for me and didn't feel that new or interesting

Also even if it got better, it's impossible to hear some of the dialogue and turning english subtitles on for english language content is something I hate (I don't want to read what actors say before they say it)

I think you must've watched something different to me lol, but the first 1-2 ep's even though I enjoyed them an awful lot are a bit slow, watch more I'd recommend. It's building something, setting the scene for later events, the payoff is worth it but it is a bit slow at the beginning.

It's like an old school spy espionage thriller really, quite a few episodes that then build up to one big event at the end of that particular arc, I had no issues hearing the dialogue on D+, not sure if you watched it on the seven seas but that could be the culprit with that.

Probably the best SW thing since RotJ in my view.
