retroed
Right. I'm thinking of going for the red Elite bundle at GAME for £230. I would trade my current Elite in to put towards it. Apart from asking to keep my old hard drive and let them keep the new one (I don't really want to do this), is there a way I can get rid of my old one and just have an all new system and hard drive? I'm not fussed about the purchased arcade games and themes that I have on the system, as I can download them all again can't I? http://www.xbox.com/en-GB/support/drm/ Am I OK to get rid of my current 360 and then get the new one, or do I need to get the new one before getting rid of my current one? So really, it's just my saves and Gamertag that I somehow need to keep, isn't it? Would the best way to do this be trying to find a memory card (anyone got one I could borrow for a bit? ), and backup my tag and saves then transfer to the new system? Sorry for all the questions, but if I do go for this deal, I want to make sure my saves and tag etc are safe. Thanks. Edit: I've just swapped my console at a retailer, but I don't have proof of the exchange. Can I still transfer the licenses?Yes, but remember that you are only allowed to transfer your licenses once per year. Right, so it's just my Gamertag and Saves that I need to worry about. Is that right?
spatular
i think you can always recover your gamer tag even if it's not saved on a memory card (although that would be much easier) as long as you have all the details and stuff, that's how people went from the old xbox to the 360 iirc. Jimboxy
just buy a memory unit Ed, and back all your saves and gamer profile on to that. Then all you have to to is transfer them over to your new hard drive. All of the other DLC you can re-download once you get your new one.
Jimboxy
doesn't it take like 20 mins as well though, it did when me and sam did it (insert gag here). The memory unit is much quicker and painless unit like illdog did (insert second gag here)
retroed
So what size memory card do I need? The 512MB is £27.99 which is a lot for a one-time-use thing. Just add up all my saves and tag and see what the total roughly comes to and go from there, then?
Jimboxy
i would have thought you could pick one up cheaper than that. But yeah tot it all up and see what it comes to. I'm going to pick one up as they seem pretty useful for when you are on other peoples 360's
retroed
A 256MB card should be fine for backing up my saves and gamertag, I reckon. I just had a quick tot up and I think they all come to under 200MB excluding DLC and stuff. They're harder to find though, most places do either 64MB or 512MB. Argh! Sly Reflex
I can lend you the one that came with my Arcade package if you need it. I think you will need more than one because I don't think they are that big. I am not sure tbh, but it's there on the table if you need it. It's not like I am going to be using it. retroed
Thanks for the offer, Sly. I think they're either 64MB, 256MB or 512MB. I need a 256 or 512 ideally, as I have just over 200MB of content I'd need to back up.
Sly Reflex
It's a 256mb. Drop me a PM if you want to use it, I'll get it sent out ASAP.
retroed
Excellent! Thanks a lot man. I don't need it just yet, I won't be swapping systems until two weeks time if things go according to plan. I'll PM you soon.
Sly Reflex
Right, I just fired the 360 up to check (and to buy Braid, I really should play it in full before I slate it, who knows, I might enjoy it?) and I put the card in to see how much it has on it. The actual size is 232MB. You might have to prioritise which saves you import across, unless you can have both HDD in 1 room and transport stuff across like that. retroed
If GAME don't get the red Elite in store, I may have to order online (if I can find the funds), in which case I would have both systems here until I trade my 360 in for a DSi, so could swap stuff over easily. If they do get them in though, I'll be swapping them in store. I could do without a few saves if I have to, it's not a huge problem. I think it's only just over 200MB for all my saves, gamertag, and themes (which I think I can re-download) though, so 232MB should be fine. Also, Braid is great. retroed
I need to sell some stuff. Fast. Got any Cube gear to sell? I only have these games for my GC! I do have a spare 251 memory card I think, and a barely used pearl white cube boxed and complete!

rAceR09
Jesus you spent that much to change the colour? lol.. I must be cheap Are there any other benefits other than a Red console/controller? Did you get a good price for your old one?
retroed
It's supposedly a 150watt 'Jasper' unit as opposed to 175/203 ones (mine was 203, was loud and got hot!). I traded my old one in at Gamestation for £120.
