Best British single

X Factor Finalists - Hero

The shittest cover of a shit song - how can that possibly even be included in the best single? Simon Cowell must have bunged them some cash!

The Brit awards are more about the celebrity than the music now I think.

They've always been more about the celebrity than the music! Case in point that Annie Lennox would get nominated every year, regardless of if she actually released anything or not.

I'd like to hope that MIA would win best female and Elbow would win best group and album, but I can but dream.

If Mercy wins best single it will be time to go postal.

Nah - you had to release an album in the specified period to be nominated - so she must have released something. I think they have moved the goalposts quite a bit now tho.

Oh and Girls Aloud for best british group and single :)

I remember a couple of years ago they made a big deal out of being taken more seriously and nominating people who might actually deserve to be. The Best Female category had the likes of Bjork and Cat Power in it, but was won by Britney or some such shit, kind of summed up the whole thing

I think the only thing the Brit Awards has done for me was when Muse were performing a few years back. After seeing them I thought I must check that band out after only having a passive interest before then.

I don't know if anyone knows but they're actually pretty good live. You heard it here first.
